Will Google see these backlinks? (Google, JavaScript & SEO)

Hi everyone,

We have released a bunch of free apps that people have embedded on their own sites. In the embed code, the app is calling a javascript file from our server. We want to make a change to the javascript code so that on page load, javascript runs and rebuilds the text below the app to include a backlink.

So the question is... will Googlebot execute the JavaScript code and see this backlink, or not?

Many thanks for your thoughts!

If the link doesn't show up on the Google cache (text version), it never happened.

Well, we haven't made the change to the code yet, so I can't check the cache.

But it sounds like you're suggesting that we change the code, and then wait for Google to re-cache the page, and then check Google's cache (not sure what you mean by text version) to see if the link appears. Am I understanding you?

Sorry to be confusing: I just realized that my 1st post was written in such a way that I sounded like the javascript code was already dynamically changing the backlink text. This hasn't been pushed out yet. We're contemplating if it's worth the trouble, i.e., if Google will even see the change.
