I can take any brand new domain, build any ole site, stick it on my back links and have a PR 2 website in 6 weeks on average. I'm talking doing nothing else at all. Sometimes I'll only get a early PR1, occasionally I'll hit a early PR3, can't tell you why. That's the long answer but the short one is YES, back links are the most important thing your site can have. Without them your lost in a sea of sites with no traffic.

Yes absolutely black links will always be an indicator of popularity for sites and thus being very beneficial to SEO.

Although the popularity indicator that Google algorithms usedes to rank sites are constantly evolving back links have always been a key element of what set there search engine apart from others. I do not see this changing in the foreseeable future to come.

What you will need to keep up on is the methodologies behind the structures of the back links which you are developing. To be more specific the overall profile of distributed links.

If you look to become the SEO "expert" I highly recommend setting up isolated cell sites implementing different BL SEO profile structures. experience is the only way to learn anything in this industry and implementing the tactics such as this will put your fingers on the pulse of what is effective in what becomes ineffective.

nobody perfect and lot of people "too much thinking" Lol...some months ago lot of people said that backlink from wiki's sites is great. Then lot of new wiki's site show up!, it's just for business dude, make some rumors and then they sell something that you think "must use that"!. Lol...

Even google staff didn't know exactly how to rank well on google :p ...

Do you know why people are saying that backlinks are not working anymore? It is to reduce backlink competition and reduce spammers who just want to create backlinks from any sites they want.

Backlinks is not working - is a propaganda, something that will divert the attention of clients to focus on something and invest on something else. If one is too dumb to just believe everything they read it means you'll buy anything they will sell even if that product is an "imitation"

Backlinks still works.. you just need to find which backlinking strategy is trending this Google Panda days.

When you're the new kid on the block (or in this case, new website), you want to get in with the "cool popular" kids. They carry the most weight. Befriend the quarterback or the hottest chick in the school and you have a greater chance at being part of the "in crowd". Makes you look good to everybody else...And this... coming from an ex-nerd! Oh, but wait, I am still a nerd. LOL And moreover, this is just how it works with the backlinks. Get those links from popular quality relevant sites...Be careful of who you keep company with...spam is like hanging out with the bad kids in school...you don't want to be a part of that crowd.

For back links to work, you need to:

1. Quality content, avoid spinning improperly or don't spin at all.

2. High quality back links including relevant ones.

Forget all of the games and the spinning & junk that everyone does.

*If you a looking to build a longer term brand and build authority in a niche don't BUY back links - you need to EARN back links.

Content has been (and always will be) the foundation of building solid traffic, visitors and links. There are multiple ways to do this and create traffic quickly and EARN back links. I launched a WSO addressing these techniques.

Yea they work for sure. There is more weight given to backlinks coming from pages with relevant content (ie keywords) to your site. But even without relevant content they still count for something; I mean unless your posting rel=nofollow links; then your google juice is cut significantly....

Have to vary your anchor text and use links to your domain or your name. Keyword spammy anchor text could hurt you. Just think of linking to yourself the same way a normal human would.

Normal humans link to websites all day long. If I was blogging about an ESPN article, for example, Id either post the direct URL or post to ESPN. I wouldnt link to "great priced football equipment" etc etc.

At one time if you Googled the word Angela, Angela from Aberdeen was one of the top 2 results. This was in 2010, I tried today and stopped looking after page 3. So based on that I say it no longer works.

Backlinks work just fine, but they have to look natural, the more your backlinks look like others made them the more they work. Search engines want to see how popular your site is. So backlinks from blogs are good as well as social networks and forums but search engine spiders are getting pretty good at detecting if your backlinks where unnaturally built just for SEO purposes... So be carful when you build them you might just be wasting your time.

People keep trying to sell products telling you how to rank pages without backinks, but when you see the page, it will have almost no content, and maybe a video.

Personally, I think this is pretty much bull crap. Sure you can rank a page or two without any backlinks, but for the most part it takes references from other pages to show Google etc. that your page is worth viewing.

Just my $0.02 and what exactly what you paid for it. I could be wrong, but that is my opinion.

I can tell you right now that rank and bank does work. I'm not sure exactly how, but I pay someone to do it for me and they can skyrocket my sites, which will rank for 6 months or so, which I think is proof that backlinks work.

Website ranking involves more than just putting your website online. The old addage, "Build it and they will come" is no longer true. In order to find good backlinks you need to not only have quality content on your website but also focus on getting good backlinks from relevant websites.

Search engines rank websites according to how many quality backlinks they find pointing at your website. Quality is determined by how relevant the other site is to your site and where the link is placed on their page (within the content is best) and how many other links are on the page (less is better). A large number of links pointing at your site does not guarantee success. You need quality backlinks in order to rise to the first page of results and the more you can find the better.

Spammy is bad, but can still work, just not worth the risk if you are building up a quality business. I would stay with the quality end of the market and "get" good relevant links, as for sure less and good is beating many and spammy!

Backlinks are working. Sorry if you are using auto submitter bots to get backlinks. The best backlinks that actually work are actually built naturally and gradually. Splashing out backlinks at once will attract a huge penalty from google. The metrix is simple, if you have poor quality backlinks, the google bot renders your website as low quality. I'm hearing that also but I still do backlinking. I think though you just can't be a pig about. I guess in the early days people would do thousands a day but that doesn't work now. Everything has to look natural.

Backlink works and i think will work until search engines are there are their main core algo is based backlinks... Still people are there rank high with nothing high pr backlinks... So dont worry too much about it.. and build good backlinks and rank your websites...

Dont make PR ZERO website links with softwares... I use softwares but smartly...

Link building may be out, but link earning is still working, that is what Google always recommend.
Of course white hat methods are known as link earning methods too.

But, I don't think there is SEO without links.

Dont ask. Just keep trying. But try to use backlinks from trusted sites only.

"How to detect if the site is trusted or not?"- is the main question that anyone who is going to buy backlinks have.

Page rank was used to be a sign for this. But NOT anymore.
