Hello.

I've tried searching but i've come up with nothing at all. I am a total beginner when it comes to SEO and i need some basic help.
What is a backlink?

    Have you really searched in google for "what is a backlink?" before posting this question here?

    I find that hard to believe...

    Anyway, a backlink is just a link from one website, leading back to another. A backlink is quite often in the form of an anchor link (another thing to google) and anchor links using specific terms or keywords leading back to specific content on another site, is basically how offsite SEO works...

    A “back-link” as already explained is a link from someone else’s site pointing back to your site. Links are one of the more effective ways to increase your ranking in the search engines. They are in essence a positive vote for your site. The higher the ranking of the back-link, the more “link-juice” you get from it. The whole trick however is this, how does one get a really great link from their niche when one is new and just starting out? Establishing relationships is the key.
    We were all newbies when we first started. There is no dumb question! (unless of course you are the Vice President, then all bets are off!)

    Your best isn't good enough what sources and terms are you using?

    If you use the appropriate search terms on any of the major search engines or WF you will get lots of related and helpful queries.
