CPC drop after implementing ad1 adsense code

I was getting decent cpc for my niche when I decided to do some tweaks in hope of improving my adsense revenue. My highest cpc ads doesn't have the best CPC so I decided to implement this adsense tweak from the adsense support pages.
Instead of increasing my revenue, I saw an immediate drop in my cpc. Could the adsense tweak cause this? Or was this caused by some other factor?
