HI,

I have some broken links from indexed pages in Google due to some URL restructuring. Can anyone tell me if it is OK to use redirects on these links to the actual pages? This is all internally on my website.

Thanks,
Seamy

Are the pages WITH backlinks are broken or pages where links POINT TO are broken?

Maybe the OP does mean a 401 redirect, or some such sort.

So, no reason for a 301. That's a waste of time and
not what a 301 was for. Unless it's like 1 or 2 of
your best pages...and for some GOOD reason, you
      changed the url...

Under the assumption that the pages are no longer there:

Just create a custom 404 error page for a soft landing.
That's actually what google tells you to do. People
do not like being zapped to a page they did not want
      with no explanation.

If you are really talking "401," then your page has some
      other problems.

You can do a 401 redirect, but you need some programming
      knowledge.

FYI: EVERYBODY needs a custom 404 error page anyway.
Done and done, never need to worry again.
