Is this bad anchor text ratio or something else?

Hi,
I have done an ahrefs report on my site and have evaluated the anchor texts.
My site vanished for a while but is starting to crawl back up. I find that when I write a new page with good quality and original content, it ranks on page one and then a little time later, I can no longer find it?
I don't think I over use the keyword and I think my page titles are ok? But I have competitors who outrank me and they have little or no backlinks whatsoever? And very often, their content is light.
Here is my anchor text breakdown:

414 Keyword 1
300 Key word 2
249 Key word is my first name
88 Key word 3
57 No anchor text
48 Company name
43 Key word 4
40 Key word 5
36 Key word 6
17 Key word is my full name

Is this ratio damaging my site, or could it be the quality of backlinks, or could it be that my on page seo is rubbish?
I looked at using the disavow tool but I am now afraid to do anything.
I will continue to build good content and to post it to some social networks such as Google+

Any help would be really kind.

Best regards
Chris

    Hey Chris!

First of all go to Google right now and type your domain name into it.

    Like yourdomain.com

If your domain shows up that means you are not penalized and you DO NOT need to use disavow tool.

Secondly, you got too many anchors of your primary keyword (1) and secondary keyword. This could cause trouble in the future. Also, I don't know what your keywords are but keyword 4,5 and 6 should be synonyms or LSI keywords.

I suggest you do this in the upcoming weeks (5-8):

Forget about the keywords you want to rank for and create "natural" looking links to greatly lower your main anchor text density.

    Anchors like:
    Images (no anchor)
    http://www.yourwebsite.com
    http://yourwebsite.com
    www.yourwebsite.com
    yourwebsite.com
    http://http://www.yourwebsite.com (purposely made mistake)

    remotely related keyword 1
    remotely related keyword 2
    remotely related keyword 3
    Justin Bieber

Also, your links are probably poor (sorry) if your competitors outrank you with much less backlinks.

Of course they can be also ranking because they already have authority in the niche. They don'n need to create links for separate pages because their homepage is boosted.

Try to get some high pr link with exact anchor text to boost yourself.

    Hope this helps,
    Tibor

That's not true at all. There are differing types of penalties. A few years ago when JCPenney was penalized, for example, they were not removed from the index. They still showed up. Their rankings were just hit.

I'm not talking about being de-indexed / banned. I'm talking about being slapped!

If you type your domain name in this format into Google: yourdomain.com and you don't show up. It is highly likely that you have a penalty. You are still indexed of course, but not ranking.

        Index check would be: site:yourdomain.com.

You can have a penalty and still show up when you type yourdomain.com in the search bar. Just because you show up, does not mean there is not some sort of manual or algorithmic penalty on the domain.

If you don't show up, then yes, there is some sort of penalty going on (assuming you were indexed).

You were right on one half.

            Thanks for the replies,
The homepage seems to be coming back up and is now on page two. Its just odd that the internal pages don't rank at all. So i did a big page on anxiety with outbound links and loads of good quality info and yet this doesn't really feature in the searches.
In my signature below I have one of my man kewords as hypnotherapy warrington, should I change this to something more generic?
In the ahrefs report, the links I built myself are good page ranks but some of the seo I have had done in the past linked to blog posts where probably not as good the ahrefs rank is very low.
But I am getting the feeling from you guys to keep away from the disavow tool?
            Regards
            Chris

Yes of course this method is not 100% bullet proof.

I don't see much issue with the keyword links.
Google is looking for quality backlinks.
You might have to look into this area.

Great that you are into creating great content.
As for social media linking, perhaps you might want to hold on to this for a while.
The last thing you want is to let Google feel that you are spamming the site with links.
