Site Not Ranking, Not Sure Why

So i've been working on a small niche site for the past couple weeks, have built 20 web 2.0 backlinks, listed my site on 30 social bookmarking sites and have been commenting on blogs everyday.

When I check my rankings withSeoSerp my site is not found and i am just curious what i am doing wrong. the keyword has low competition and only has around 1000 exact search matches every month. Also barely any of my backlinks are showing up in ahrefs.

If anyone could offer any insight into what could be going wrong here it would be much appreciated

Has Google actually indexed your site in the first place? Nothing ranks without having been indexed first. Anyway, this is the place to ask/discuss it: Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum

You're banging your head against the wall.

    Your site might never rank.

Focus on driving traffic to your site in a manner you can control.

Well I am trying to drive traffic from forums and blogs but I dont want to just give up on being able to bring my site organic traffic from google. Especially because I selected a low competition keyword for the reason of being able to easily rank my site on the front page for my keyword.

You said you started a niche site?
How much content do you have on it?
How often do you update it?
How natural is your link building method?

I currently have 1 main article around 800 words and then 3 articles 400-600 words. I have been making small changes in the site every couple of days but have not added content in probably 2 weeks.

For my link building I bought 2 gigs off of fiverr, one for social bookmarking (only 30 bookmarks) and then another gig to submit a couple original articles to 20 web 2.0 sites. These two gigs were separated by a week. Other then that i have been making anywhere from 3-8 blog comments a day on various sites.

Keep working on this, fatching traffic from forums, blogs regularly, it would help in ranking too.

This is called traffic management, if your site has suddenly 100 visitors and it disappeared next day then you are not going to get benefit, the traffic should be natural and if it is natural then it would of course be regular too...... so you have to maintain this follow first.

Well obviously the keyword you're going after isn't as easy to rank for as you initially expected.

I'm targeting 300-500/month keywords, moderate to high competition, and I didn't see much of anything improvement till month 3.

Now its month 5, and many of my keywords still dance dramatically.

If you're using web2.0s, you have to backlink them too. What I would do is make a second tier of web2.0s, spin a ton of content then link from tier 2 to tier 1.

You can also just consider getting some relevant/high pr links.
Or look for an aged/expired high pr domain, buy it (you can often find them cheap) then use it as a linkfarm.

It seems the more and more I do SEO the stronger and stronger / better quality my backlinks have to be. Make sure you are variating your anchor text too.

Get some better backlinks. If they're not showing up in Ahrefs, chances are they are pretty bad.

Also, hook it up to webmaster tools and see how often and how many pages google has indexed.

Ranking Depends alot upon Keyword and SEO backlinks
For anchor text do not use all links for main keyword.
    i use 40% for exact kwd, 50% related kwd and 10% url/click here/about etc
and i start ranking high ;-)

i am facing the same problem with a micro niche site with 12 articles on a semi-emd (so keyword-info.com).
got a diversity of backlinks to it etc etc.. i check in google > site:mydomain.com
and everything is properly indexed, i use a seo plugin to keyword all articles. i also am targeting a low competition keyword, researched it trough Traffic Travis and other methods, it says 'very easy to rank' but somehow i cannot succeed ranking this website.

i made the site with 5 articles around 2-feb-2013, since then i am adding a article every week..
i honestly dont know what i am doing wrong, or perhaps some sites just dont rank lol

Did you try using Social meda sites to rank? Google+, Facebook, Twitter?!? They would help you get your site quickly indexed by Google. Also, are you sure that those forums and blogs are niche related?

make sure you submit to all the big search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo.
Social bookmarking - you are already doing it, so good.
How about article marketing and guest blogging for SEO purposes? They can help you rank too!

In order for a certain website to appear in the SERP, it must be indexed first. There are 3 things that you can do. First, try pinging the domain. Second, build a couple of links to your website and ping those links. Lastly, make sure your settings are set to index your website in Robots.txt or Wordpress. Also do not use a mass indexing tool that uses whois links built to your website. This tool is in Scrapebox, so avoid it.
