Google drop - Bing Yahoo up

Hi warriors,

what does it mean if your keywords are all on the first 1-3 serps pages of bing and yahoo but don't even show in the first 80 serps pages of google? coz that's what is happening for my site.

my top kws all dropped from google in early january, but they actually rose in bing and yahoo... and those stats still remain today..

My brand name kw is still number 1 in google so site is not penalized... i cant work out what is wrong. definitely not a panda thing, but although some experts have told me its not a penguin thing either, i am not convinced of that.. but if not.. what could it be?

I have been building tiered link scheme (for past 6 weeks in effort to recover) but so far it has not affected serps at all...

site is 1 yr old, semi authority, approx 400 pages, all unique content etc...my link profile is not fantastic but certainly not penalizable, after all, kws still ranking well on bing and yahoo.

has anyone experienced anything like this and recovered?

is there a likely reason?

anyone know about these things?

please do offer yr advice or opinion.. thank you.

    It's hard to tell anything without checking your backlink profile. But from my personal experience your site is probably penalized by google.

    How's your anchor text diversity?
    Did you used/bough links from networks? Ie possible mass network de-indexing

    You cannot make sure what exactly happened to your other keywords that were dropped in G. If it was new site then this might have been G dance.

    Also, the algo of Y, B and G are quite different and G tops them all.

      I noticed the same thing, My Google traffic dropped 80% in a matter of hours on the 6th, but Bing and Yahoo rose. I have to say just based on the past few days, Bing and Yahoo seems to be much more targeted as my bounce rate has dropped which is good and people are buying.

      My site is slowly working back up in Google. Once we get through this update I think I may take a look at targeting Yahoo and Bing more. Google is taking years off my life!

    I have a lot of things (clients) that are #1 on Bing/Yahoo - but on the third page of Google. I am concentrating more and more on Bing.

    Being first (or at least 1st page) in Yahoo and Bing is MUCH MORE easy than achieve a high ranking in Google. I am sure you have at least 100 really powerful webmasters that you should overrank in Google and about 5-10 in Yahoo and Bing! // Just do NOT stop building QUALITY backlinks!

      Are you saying that these 100 powerful webmasters are not listed in Yahoo and Bing?:confused:

        This usually happens when you have changed your internal link structure or mass build links. Bing and Yahoo favour link quantity in google links help only if they are quality. Stop link building for 2-3 weeks and reevaluate, usually thats what happens before your site sky rockets or sinks.

          Well.. i did do a massive internal link structure change... as i completely restructured my site adding a new permalink structure with new categories etc.. this changed all my urls (all have 301 redirects so old urls point to new urls) except the primary domain url remained the same... but all that happened in Dec 2012.. ranking dropped in early Jan.,. and has not recovered... you think this has something to do with the drop?

            Think of it as if the gym you go to was demolished , rebuilt and all the rooms where moved to different sections. You would need a few days-weeks-months to get use to it. Google needs its time to recrawl, reindex and then rank your site again. You can give signs to google that you have changed the whole structure if your internal linking is good and from your homepage maximum 2 levels deep reaches every page. I pasted all my urls on my homepage, changed the article modification dates to later dates , pushed some tweets and posted links from various high pr sites and then did a google fetch from webmastertools tools to the homepage (+ all linked urls). Crawling was done fast, reindexing and rankings returned after a few weeks. Pasting all your article links on the homepage is rather extreme for 400 articles but if your link structure isn't good there might not be another way.

              ..thanks for your response..

              in my GWT.. it shows that google has indexed all my pages.. also if you type the new url of each page into the google search box, it turns up number one...so doesn't that show google knows about my new structure? it has been this way for weeks but still the rankings have not recovered.

                You never know with google but you can guess. Were your links any of those fiverr gigs ,seonukex or some other bad links? you may have kicked yourself instead of helping to rank better, might be devaluation of older links . When did the drop happen maybe check for an algorithm update on the dates or a freshness update?
