It's low competition but have I done good?

If i am able to achieve this in a month could I do the same with other kws with millions of searches a month ?

    You sure it's 4 million searches per month? Is that 'exact' or 'broad' because that obviously makes a big difference. What daily traffic are you getting and are you monetizing it?

      You will probably find in reality it gets just thousands a month

      not its exact, for broad its coming up as 16 million searches amonth

      I just hit top spot last night so obviously I can't predict exact traffic levels yet but I was getting around 30k a day on low first page making $200 a day off the site with adsense so I'm expecting this to rise quite a bit now

        4 million EXACT match searches sounds awfully high... I'm not sure I've EVER seen keywords that get searched that often... unless its a hot trending topic...

        Viagra has only 673K EXACT match searches a month...
        iPad does get 3.3 million... getting closer !!!

    Hey!

    I am far from ANY seo expert.. But I somehow got my fathers website to #1 spot on Google (#1 if you count it as being the top result under Google Ad space) without much effort! The bonus was..That when he fell ill and couldn't work in his physical job any more... The website I made him gets him a bit of an income!

    I think the cyber gods were good to us! ha ha!

    My only problem is.. Is that I don't want to try and rank it for any ore keywords in case it messes up his ranking etc... lol

    Nice man way to go, keep tracking that keyword and keep it up at #1 and since you seem to know what your doing maybe build another site and target another keyword to scale up your income.

      Thanks, I am experimenting with another site as we spreak, there is no sign of it yet in the serps but im hoping but a big jump within the next few days or week, fingers crossed

        I can come up with thousands of reasons why people would want to lie on a marketing forum... Investing 300 bucks does not get you rank 1 for 4 million searches, it probably buys you a useless SEO company which read a book and think they are experts. Any keyword which has 4 million search on the exact will not be a uncompeted market! There will be fierce competition which would require consistent SEO efforts for many years to attain such a position, not a month...

        Not much, just a simple home page with featured posts etc..I have over 400 articles on the site however

        What I am calling is a complete lack of knowledge & experience. I will put $1000 down right now, that you did not rank a 4 million/month keyword #1 in google in only ***1 month*** FFS!

          You think I wouldn't have checked that? I check my sites through hidemyass daily to get an accurate measure of my serps, and yes it is still number 1 on google.

          The thing is, I can understand how alot of you find this very hard to believe as I never thought I could achieve such a position myself, me targeting this keyword was an experiment which completely payed off.

          And another funny thing, you all are baffled about how I only spent $300 on seo, well I just checked over the total I spent for work on this keyword and it actually only amount to $225!

          I will say this though, my keyword has nothing to do with the ones people have discussed in this thread like insurance,sex,hotels whatever I am not that stupid to try and pursue a page 1 rank in those niches.

          Nik0 made some good points in previous posts, he knows exactly how this is possible

    I got to agree, 4 million exact keyword search results is hard to believe. But if you have got it their and on 30k visitors you only made $200 that's a joke. Simple but effective. The money is in the list. Get visitors to sign up, get them onto an emailing list get a decent subscriber list then start pushing relevant products.

    But then again 4 million searches a month and number one, your site is worth a few thousand $$.

    Or if you actually think the $300 was good seo then you got so much to learn.

    on the odd chance your telling the truth, do not at any time tell any one else what your keyword is, i can promise you most people can out do $300 worth of seo within one nights work.

    Respectfully, I suspect we have different ways of counting "searches/month".

    But the answer is, if it's any kind of buying keyword (e.g. not a two-word expression of which the first word is "free"!), then you've done very well, if it's something monetizable from search engine traffic.

    It showed 1mil searches/month and when I was at #4 I only got around 100 visitors per day...

    but you said that you get around 30k per day. I would say: this is still awesome


    could you tell us a bit more about how many articles you put on your site per day?
    how many words do your articles have on average?
    do you also have a silo structure applied on your site?

    do you get 30k per day from just one main keyword or from a lot of long tail keywords?

    I can't believe a 4 million [exact] traffic per month keyword exist with low SERP competition, those two things just don't go together.

    As far as a buyer keyword, that doesn't mean squat for monetizing traffic, especially with Adsense since Adsense has a cookie that follows traffic around the net (retargeting). OP clearly said he was monetizing with Adsense.

        That has nothing to do with competition, the Adwords "low" is an indicator of amount of paid Adwords advertiser, and as youtube to mp3 is not really a buying keyword it's logical that it doesn't have much competition.

      I was doing some research using Google's keyword tool yesterday.

      Local keywords... the one most people would type gets 1,600 exact. Yet Google showed that a keyword made up of 5 words, in the wrong order for most people, also gets 1,600 a month. So, I looked at the history... Guess what, previous months, it got 16 to 18 searches.

      So, Google messed up, somehow added 2 zero's.
      4,000,000 less 2 zeros is 40,000.

      The same day, on one of my sites, I got 163 visitors in the space of one hour... That site usually gets 120-200 visitors a month.

      Google messed up.

      I have had sites 2 sites that I had at #1 for several keywords. Based on Google's keyword (and if #1 sites get 30-35% of traffic or the 25-28% some other sites I have gave me), I should have had 1500-1600 visitors a month for one from the main keyword alone and 320-350 a month from the 2nd one.

      I got 18-20 for the 1st site, 22-25 from the 2nd.

      Conclusion: the OP is, indeed, giving the exact match; this is a glitch in Google's innards.

        I would be chasing that keyword then. It lets you know what is possible. A couple more articles with that keyword, banners on other niche sites, etc.

      As I deal with tons of niches from clients, there is a good amount of 1 million+ exact keywords out there.

      And the fact that he only makes $200/day from 30k visitors fits exactly in the niche category that I think he is in.

      Also the competition for such keywords is not enormously high.

      Doing it with a $300 budget sounds a bit unreal though.

      I personally ranked a similar kw at #18 in 3 months of my $100/monthly SEO service, sure still far from the #1 spot, but that kw gets 678.000 exact searches/month.

      So don't start to yell that it's impossible, and definitely don't start to compare it to kw's like viagra, sex, insurance or any other insane competitive niches.

      I ain't gonna give away the niche obvious and it does sounds pretty unreal that he would have hit the #1 spot (probably very temporarily), but page 1, yes absolutely doable.

        Just found a 9 million exact keyword that has a PR0 site ranking at the bottom of page one with only 519 backlinks from 19 referring IP's, 37 referring domains, according to Ahrefs.

        And one more with 9 million exact searches where mostly PR4 pages dominate the first page.

        Kind of proofs my point.

        Here an example in a totally different niche:

        "facebook login" 124 million exact searches, creativity can go a long way, sure these type of non buying keywords convert really poor, hence the $200 from 30k visitors, but the volume definitely makes up for the money, he would never rank at #1 for this one though, and for my other 9 million example neither, but page 1, yeah it's possible.

            I think you missed the point. OP said his website is ranked #1 not at the bottom of the page. tell me when you rank a site number 1 for the keyword "Justin TV" within a month investing just $300. which means beating justin.tv for that keyword. you'll never gain that authority to beat justin.tv and wikipedia in a months time investing $300.

              Yeah for the sake of argument I am just ignoring the #1 rank but instead using the ranking at the bottom of page 1 where he was earlier, cause I think this #1 rank (if it's true) is just a temporarily thing or maybe personalized, even Google incognito or clearing cache and what else is sometimes showing flawed (still personalized) results.

              Now ranking a for a 4 million exact at bottom page 1 with 30k hits a day and $200/day profit is still impressive, heck that's $6k/month

              J/k but it sure got me thinking that there are such kw's where the bottom is definitely not impressive, but with such volume's there's good money to make, I think I can rank such terms with my networks. Heck like I said, I got a 670k exact at #18 in 3 months SEO worth of $300 (cost price for me about half) and in those 3 months we only used a part of my network.

        - high amount of searches is related with short tail keywords. Right?
        - short tail keywords are very unstable as a fly in the ocean?
        - high amount of searches mostly is global, not local. Is it possible of global rankings?
        - what is more stable/worth - exact short or broad long kw?

    Unless I am mistaken, there is absolutely no way you will rank for a sort of keyword that gets 4 million EXACT searches, by using $300 and in a short period of time. You'd have to be the 21st century SEO King of the Gurus.

    it could be a 4 million word thats not the issue, however i think its a low competition keyword because its some kind of information term with low CPC, thats why it hasnt been targeted yet by other IM's.
    For example, keyword: napoleon
    USA local: 60k , Global 300k
    competition (according to google): low

    This wouldnt be a very hard keyword to rank for if you build a informative site full of free information on the subject, however the CPC of this particular keyword is low aswell.
    Such site wont be hard to rank imo.. but adsense clicks will be cheap as sh#t.

    I also run such website at the moment about a different informative subject with 40k local hits, im also at #1 at google for it, i get 250-500 daily unique visits only trough google search and the adsense is earning some miserably 2-4$ a day.
