Does Title Decoration REALLY improve CTR?

Lately I noticed my seo campaign weren't doing THAT great, stuck at the bottom-middle-ish of the 1st page, and moving with a somewhat slow pace.

Then I noticed in the googlewebmastertools that my CTR was 2%, then even dropped to 1%. And then I started to realize...

Not only that would mean less traffic, but it seems like it would also shift the ranking position, making it less relevant result, and thus harder to promote.

- Now I've completely rewritten the meta description and expect to see some improvement. The question is about the titles, I don't see much room for improvement there other than making some decoration. On one hand, it does make the result more prominent in the serp, on the other hand it gets more distractive and harder to read.

This is how I decorated my title right now:
• • • Keyword - BrandName • • •

And I'm curious to see the results. Did any of you guys try doing this, could this really improve CTR? Or would it actually look less relevant or spammy and would only hurt it?

Title attracts users and increase CTR... As per my personal experiences pages with attractive titles getting more CTR as compare to others.

try to make your titles general, like avoid use this kid of titles

how are you | Are you fine|

    keywords 1 - keywords 2 - keyword 3

in-short write a complete sentence to by using your best targeted keywords...... That's what i do and experience.....

Title decoration always matter for CTR. It's increase the chances of click on the search result page of Google and other search engines.

That's what I usually do, and that's what usually works as well. It works well when we use some keyword phrase, so we just want to make it seem more relevant among other results.

But what I experienced with my keyword, is that most of the time it's just one word they are typing - the name of the product, and they want to know all about it, then they want to purchase it, and these results on the 1st page do look very similar, and do provide somewhat the same features.

So I'm really thinking how could I better stand out among them.

Title is only the best way to convey google users to open our page from SERP. SO it will increase your CTR.

Yeah, looks like, it could benefit the click through, if done well.
Now, the question is, could a title decoration give you a penalty or a lower ranking?..

    Laminine at discount
    avail laminine at wholesale price

there can be plenty of even better veriations...

and answer to your question about penalty... Yes Google could penalize the page if

title is keyword stuffed, badly written, makes no sense to users, failed to get much clicks... and many more small factors...

Title decoration can improve CTR, but it also can make it worse - all depends on how you do that.

Yeah well said. Maybe not do an overkill, some nice snowflake or flower as separator could be enough to draw some attention to it.

Title decoration looks spammy. I would be less likely to click on it. Focus on what the user wants to see, not some bling bling.
