How to fix SEO after google update

I have used some black hat SEO services on my site such as Link Packages and those cheap Fiverr SEO gigs where you just give them the link and keyword you want to increase rankings for. Long story short I went from 150-200 hits per day for 6 months to 2-10 hits per day in the past 2 months. Yes, I have learned my lesson..Sales are way down.

But it's time to move forward so how can I fix this? How can I find those bad links pointing to my site and delete them? Google Disavow tool?

What would you suggest I do to recover my site.

What if that isn't an option? My domain is a really good name and I want it for the business. I'm sure there have been guys who rebuilt their site from google updates..

It's always an option. Take the emotion out of the equation. People spend MONTHS and MONTHS trying to get their rankings back. There are no guarantees. At the very least build another website as a back up plan.

Atmosphere,

I think the easiest thing for you to do would be to start over however if you want to forge ahead, you can start to fix things.

So if the only thing you did was buy bad links, you will have to get them removed. The first step to doing that is reaching out to the websites those links are on and asking them to remove them. You can look at webmaster tools or some other third party software to see links to your site. You can also look ad referral data from any tracking you may have to see what bad sites may be sending you traffic.

You mentioned the disavow links tool and this is really a last resort. I think there is a lot of misconception about this tool in terms of when it should be used. Google introduced this tool as a last resort method for webmasters who had exhausted every avenue for getting links removed. If you just submit a disavow link request and you have no supporting documentation that you tried to get the links removed, they will ignore it.

So if you want to fix this, get on the phone, send out emails, or otherwise try and open up a line of communication between yourself and the sources of these bad links. Keep records of your activities and if you should fail, then you can ask Google for help.

Remove all the link you think were the reason for your downfall. Then start over again. Do a bit research as well before starting again, as to what links you should build.

Don't worry friend. You still have possibilities to recover your site. You have to go step by step. You can take my below suggestions and believe me, you will achieve far better position in long run.

1st of all, we have to bring the lost traffic to the website. You should concentrate more on social media site now. LinkedIn is a better option to get sales leads. Facebook and twitter are better to get traffic.

2ndly for your website, concentrate more on fresh content. Articles, press release and blog posting is the best way. Get back links from these submissions. If possible then setup a blog onto your website and give regular updates on that.

Ethical search engine optimization service is always good. Otherwise unethical process will cause such issues which you are facing. Google has launched "disavow" service to address such issues. Using this service you can make request to Google not to count those bad links for your website. You should also send manual requests to webmasters to remove links for your sites.

Google updates are something to be happy about. They reduce the spammy site which use unethical SEO techniques to rank themselves above your site. All you have to do is understand what Google wants and follow those simple steps. As soon as you try to act smart and get quick results, you should expect a sudden drop soon as Google will make sure to penalize any site not following guidelines.
The recent Panda update that took place in Feb 2013, made quite a few webmasters uncomfortable. If you were also adversely affected by it, here is how you can recover from it.

  It seems very silly. That means all someone needs to do is some negative SEO with some link packages and cheap fiverr gigs on a site they don't own and then someones site is tainted in Google's eyes and the person has to dump their site and start afresh. Something very wrong there.

  That's wrong. Particularly since penguin poor quality links have an adverse affect on a sites ranking. If external factors had no effect negetively then why would Google have released a linkdisinvow tool?

Follow only the White hat seo path from now on, and try to undo what you did with black hat .. if you can, or seek professional help. (SEO help)

Personally, I'm on the fence about Google actually penalizing your site for having bad links. I am leaning more toward Google not counting them at all. If Google penalizes those links, I can spam the crap out of them using my compatition and get him to lose rank. If Google just devalues them, the sites using them lose rank and they can not be used as a weapon against others. Dont forget, Matt Cutts was never on the actual ranking algoritum team. Matt was a part of the anti-spam team before becoming the spokesperson so you have to put a filter on what he says.

My opinion is that your site lost rank because Google devalued your links. now it is time to start creating better links of good quality using blog posting, guest posting, web 2.0 like squidoo and weebly and forum posting NOT forum profiles.

I could be wrong and I frequently am.

Atmosphere13, I would start by running a link detox report on the site--to truly identify the toxic links and try to get those removed. There are probably links out there that aren't that great--but they're not really hurting your site. Link Research Tools lets you run a link detox report for really cheap, like for $1 or a tweet.

Google's Disavow Tool works, and I've seen plenty of sites recover--but only after they disavowed the toxic links.

Once you've taken care of that, don't worry too much about the past--get really good high quality links to the site in the future and you will eventually recover the lost traffic and sales.

But since the disinvow tool was released their hasn't been any penguin update refreshes, so what update are the sites recovering from which used the disinvow tool?

cooler1, they're not recovering from an update per se because of an update (there wasn't one), they're recovering because they got rid of toxic links to their site.
