Best seo way to handle html to wordpress conversion
- SEO |
Got a domain that is well established lots of indexed pages ranking well.
Converting it to a wordpress site.
Conversion is complete on test server apart from dealing with file extensions.
Existing pages mydomain.com/service1.html
in wordpress becomes mydomain.com/service1
so my question is do I throw in one of those plugins that adds the extension to wordpress
or what seems to make more sense, I have seen a wordpress plugin that will handle mapping of 301 re-directs ( no need to play with htaccess file).
Am I correct in assuming google should pick up all the redirects after a few weeks and all will be cool if I use a 301 redirect plugin?
I would like a safe permanent solution, not crazy about adding file extensions to the site.
appreciate feedback from those that have been through this.
