Hi all
I just wanted to share a few tips that i thought are must for SEO and i would like to invite all SEO gurus to throw in some of their tips and tricks

1) Blog comments > Very highly recommended... One has to realise first that he.she has to post comments only in Do-Follow blogs and not No-follow
Getting links in No-follow will help you get traffic but will not help you get any link

2) Forum Posting > Please make sure you dont spam any forum, you will get quality links from quality forums only if you dont spam and actually contribute...
Go to google and search for your niche + forums and try and find the best forums... make useful threads and place your links in your signature..

3) Social Bookmarking> The lates and the best way to get high PR links.. just search the net for social sites and you will find tons of list.. now you will want to post to all of them ... OR what i use is onlywire that will reduce your work and help you automate the process...

4)EDU links > Very effective and very difficult to get, so try and get these from your friends or if you know someone in your family

5) Flickr and Youtube > ie Images and Videos , these can get you some serious traffic and can get you some quality backlinks...

Also i forgot to mention make sure you always use your anchor text as your keyword and post your website link in the URL section...

Time for the SEO gurus to share there ideas

Thanks
Anuj

All your suggestions revolve around link-building. I would counter this and say focus on building lots of relevant content and on-page optimization. These are the SEO fundamentals, not link building.

Link building may get you some traffic, but I would venture to say that most of your traffic doesn't purchase anything from you.

Quality traffic finds you via search and is more targeted to purchase, providing what you're selling has value to them.

I like the off-site optimization advice, but I just don't get it about the .edu links. I didn't know it was possible to just get a link from an .edu as if it's a link exchange. Besides, a .edu extension is no different than a .com, .org or .net site. It doesn't have more preference, "link juice" or SE credibility than any other domain extension.

As for on-site optimization. I agree that this should really be done well. I've increased pages and sites JUST from on-site optimization. I don't think it's the most critical, but a vital role in ranking better in the SERPs.

Hi as you will see most of the edo blogs are high PR blogs and BIG G gives a lot of importance to these kinds of blogs..

All students are given webspace on their university sites....So if you think you have your friends or someone in your family get your site placed on their space and You Have your LINK JUICE...

The idea is to search for forums or blogs located on university systems and make a comment, leaving your link in your signature. Links from .edu sites are good to get because they are often considered authority sites by the search engines.

These are all link building tips, which often get lumped together with SEO, which is kind of misleading. To me, SEO is what you do on-site to enhance your site's search engine positioning, and there are plenty of things you can do on site. When link building and real optimization are combined, that's when you get lots of first and second page rankings.

    One more tip to add

Article Submission - If you have a product thats going to be released or a new site, its best to get the word around fast, using something that mass submits to a ton of article directories, this builds fast backlinks but sometimes takes time to get approved, and its best not using spammy type articles but interesting ones work better. And you'll find that a lot of other sites scrape article sites for there own content. Giving even more backlinks.
