Hi all warriors...

I want to ask about adwords, because I have some misunderstanding with that. So, what is the difference between phrase match and modified broad match.

For example, I have keyword wood charcoal. If I use phrase match, "wood charcoal" and modified broad match +wood +charcoal, what is the different in search result, or when my ads appearing for this 2 types of keyword matching.

  • Kocenghabo,

Phrase match matches queries that are exactly the same as the phrase or close variations like misspellings or having words before or after the phrase. So for your word “wood charcoal”, phrase match would catch the phrase and also “wood in charcoal”, “wod charcoal”, “wood charcoal”, etc.

For broad match, the only difference is that Google will display your ad when the words of the phrase are used in any order. So broad match would also trigger ads for “charcoal wood”.

By using a Phrase Match, you're essentially saying that word order matters, whereas with Broad+, word order does not matter AND you're ok with any word or combination of words before, in between, or after the keywords you're using.
