If my website is on page one for a certain keyword phrase is this a good thing even tho i have done no on page or off page SEO

    It means you are probably seeing personalised results - are you sure you're logged out? If in doubt, use AdPreview.

    It also obviously depends on the keyword - if it has next to no competition behind it then it's simple.

    The thing that you should worry about is clicks. There are lots of websites that don't get good number of clicks even if they are on page 1 of Google.

    So to answer your question, assuming you have not done any on page including title and meta tags, your website is highly likely to be ignored.
