Backlinking large lead generation sites

Hello Warriors,
Question for some of you experts, I have a few large lead generation sites that have thousands of posts/pages. I was wondering if the backlinking has to be diversified to all the posts/pages or can it mainly be to the root domain? Also, I use WordPress for all of my sites and the quantity of pages is so large that it would be extremely hard to manage the rankings and backlinks, do you guys have any recommendations of plugins that could possibly manage the backlinking either through 3rd party sources and the ranking of all the keywords with pages?
