My site ranking well on Yahoo

Hey guys,

What value is there in ranking in the top 10 of Yahoo? Obviously this isn't my 'strategy' or end goal, but is there still 'some' value to this position?

Either way I'm pretty excited that my first ever site got ranked #2 on Yahoo

I've been using that shitty Rank Checker Firefox plugin. Kept saying I was nowhere, so I installed Traffic Travis and it claimed PR9 and it was legit and pos# 23 for Bing.

I'm recommending Traffic Travis. I like it because it provides recommendations for on-page SEO, lists potential backlink sources and rates them on their Authority Page level as well as PR for the site. And tells you if it's a forum, resource, or directory.

Check your page rank on prchecker.
    Check your Alexa Rank.
Find out the DA and PA of your site.
Find out the organic traffic on your site.

All these things will be needed to figure out the value of your site.

Thanks, but I wasn't asking about the financial value. I was asking about the value of being seen in the top 10 of Yahoo. According to the latest stats Yahoo receives about 13% of search traffic. And I just discovered I'm in the top 10 of Bing as well. Nowhere on Google though.

PRChecker only shows Google data. And the site is super new, about 3-4 days since I submitted it. So Alexa won't have any data although apparently I have one inbound link although they won't show it to me.

I rank on the first pages of Yahoo and Bing SERPs for a couple of keywords, but they generate far less traffic than Google. Work on improving your Google SERP ranking - that's where the action is.

Thanks, that's the plan. Still nice to at least have the potential of small-time traffic coming through the other two.

From my experience Yahoo keeps fluctuating a lot in comparison to Google..one day your on top and the other you are never to be found..I am not saying same will happen to you...But its better to follow what Google's TOS to be more visible on Google rather than Yahoo/Bing

Value? Free organic traffic from Yahoo!

Sometimes or most of the time, Yahoo traffic makes you more $ compared to Google so that's a plus as well

Yep I experienced that as well, ended up in #53, however around the time it was happening I was playing around with my site. Changing theme, changing categories, etc. Could be a coincidence though.

Over the next few days will be submitting my site to a few relevant resources/directories that Traffic Travis pulled up. Seems like a good strategy to get some.

Also, I don't know if anyone has heard of this, but I'm using Big Content Search (no affiliate), seems to have a lot of PLR articles and you can search the contents. So now I have a few more relevant articles to rewrite and publish.

I realised the error in my ways of having all my articles as posts all on one page. Much harder to rank one page for a specific keyword related to each article than it is to have the articles as pages. Although i'm unsure if I want to go page per article or page per category at this stage.

You can get traffic from Yahoo and Bing as you are ranking well on them. But the truth is, still Google holds the maximum number of traffic for you. It is very important to achieve good ranking in Google to get more and more traffic.

Traffic from Yahoo is good. However, the value of targeted traffic a site can get from Google is significantly more than you could get from Yahoo. Google has higher unique searches than any other search engines. More unique searches mean more potential monetization opportunity.
