Backlink Building for a newbie

Hello all,
I am fairly new to IM, especially new to link building. What do you recommend as the most straight forward way for someone new to build links and get a WP site indexed? I have written a lot of good content for my site and ezine(platinum author) articles. Not sure about all the methods and link building software out there. A bit overwhelming. Don't know where to start. Thanks!!!
