Why not just search for the domain?

Or, perhaps you are thinking that people don't get the main pages
in SERPs. They do. For the right searches, that is.

BTW, yoyo.com/article is not a subdomain.

There would be no sense in only giving domain.com results,
nor can I fathom why google would even have an option.

If you search for online auction, you are going to get ebay.com, etc.
If you search for online auction jewelry, you will get a subpage.
Search for buy electronics online, you may get tigerdirect.com,
amazon.com's electronics page. Search for laser mouse and you
most assuredly will get a subpage.

No way would google want you to go sifting through a website
looking for what you want, when they can give you the page upfront.

Depends on the search and terms.

You can get something close, by using the advanced search page.
Google Advanced Search
Scroll down, on the left side you will see "terms appearing"
You can set the pull down menu to find sites where you want the keyword(s)
to appear in the url. Thing is, domain.com is not really a url, so
you get anything with those keywords in the url, not just the domain.
