Hi!

I just found out that the server IP that my host is on was blacklisted back in June of last year, which explains why my sites lost rank suddenly. I did some research and found out that it is blacklisted due to another site on the server(it is a shared server), a site that has no affiliation with me whatsoever . . . so, now I'm trying to figure out what to do. Note, my sites are pretty much new, very little traffic, and no mailing list or anything, no get rich quick schemes. My sites use no cookies, and are Trojan horse free. So, any suggestions? Change hosting service? Request them to put me on another servers? Is there some way resolve it without changing hosting plans? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely switch. And possibly look at a dedicated solution if you're worried about it happening again. (And you're willing to spend a little extra money.)

Ask the hosting company if it's possible to move your account to another IP address.

How did you find out that your server was blacklisted? If I were you I'd check your .htaccess file at the the root and public_html levels and see if there is any disallow lines there.

Thanks for the advice, I'm considering investing in a dedicated IP. I ran my site through woo-rank, and that was one of the tests it ran. I naturally proceeded to check and double check both the IP address & the listings, and found it listed in several black lists, all to do with a domain name/email that had nothing to do with my domain. This happened originally back in June of last year, which was exactly when my site dropped from #12 to invisible over night and hasn't moved since and this is the first thing I've found that makes any sense. I'll check the .htaccess and see if there is anything unusual. I spoke to my hosting service (Justhost) and they honestly seemed not to be the least bit surprised, and mentioned that they had the same problem with several of their servers (!!) and asked me to be patient. lol.. . not!

I used woorank.com, it's one of the reports it spits out. I then got details of when and why it was blacklisted from whatismyipaddress.com. Then, because I was completely incredulous, I signed into cpanel and wrote down the IP address to be sure there was no mistake, and repeated the process on several different blacklist checkers. So. . . yeah. lol
