Hi all,

It's been a while since Google first introduced its quality score and started slapping squeeze pages... and a few months ago it relaxed its quality score requirements...

So...

Have you been able to display a squeeze page without penalty... or are you still finding it tough?

Would love to hear how everyone is doing.

Hi Jenie, I mean landing pages that require you to opt-in e.g. provide name and email address before accessing the rest of the website (or free report, etc)

Adwords is still OK with squeeze pages. As long as you follow their guidlines (i.e. contact me , privacy policy) ect...

They must be unique squeeze pages. You cannot use affiliate or replicated capture pages. You will get a very low quality score and get no impressions.

        Hi Anna,

I have no problem at all with Squeeze Pages.. just remember, it's not the 'type' of page you are sending traffic to. You can call the landing page whatever you want. It's the user experience that counts, the content. Provide a quality experience and as Brian says, simply follow their guidelines.

        Good Luck!

Actually, to be more direct here, there are a few things that Google does NOT want, which is why people are so worried. The problem started with marketers who would use Adwords to send traffic to ONE PAGE LANDING PAGES with no other purpose than to "squeeze" the visitor in to signing up. There was no "contact us" page, no "tos" (terms of service) and no "disclaimer" or "acceptable use policy" posted. Most didn't even link outwardly to their "sitemap", which is VERY BAD for SEO (search engine optimization).

That sad truth is that the ONLY thing they wanted was to add people to their email list at any expense and to Google this was no different than SPAM, which is why they put their foot down. If you take the time to develop a mini-site with a "disclaimer" page, a "tos" (terms of service), maybe an "acceptable usage policy" for clarity or a "contact" page, which is ALWAYS a bonus, then you're doing good. Even better if you're trying to link to a "sitemap" that you can pad with all kinds of goodies like articles you've written or even reviewed from all over the net, podcast feeds, videos...you name it.

Just remember that to Google more HIGH QUALITY keyword rich (not spammy) content related information ON YOUR WEBSITE that you have inner-linked within your sitemap is definately a good way to help raise your quality score.

With that in mind it's in your best interest to cooperate. :-)
