How many searches as minimum?

I was wondering how many searches as minimum should a keyword or phrase have before you consider optimize for it?

    All niches/traffic/keywords aren't the same.

    You could have one client worth thousands in business, or thousands of low paying clients.

    It's all depend. If long tail keywords, i learn from andrew hansen and george brown, that never less than 1,000 search per month. 1k search is the minimum, 1k local search.

    Personally, if it's super ridiculously little competition, then I will even choose those with ~500 searches. If it's just a normal level of low competition, then ~1000.
