Serp checking problem

Is there anyone using whatsmyserp.com? I noticed an odd thing: when I check one of my sites for a keyword, it shows it at the 13th position, but when I click on refresh, it show position 6. When I refresh it again, it switches back to 13, and so on. Is there anyone who's experienced a similar issue? I thought whatsmyserp is a reliable tool

There really aren't so many reliable tools out there, because SERPs change based on geography, browsing history, what you ate for breakfast etc.

I just use hidemyass.com and search. But for automated checking I like SERPFox (free).

The results on whatsmyserp are coming directly from google. There are many things that can vary your results from one check to the next, for example how old your domain is, how much link building you've done recently, etc. Just because you make a request to google, doesn't mean you are hitting the same server in the same data center. Over time Google's results for your domain will settle down and be more sync'd up, making subsequent SERP checks more stable.

FYI...the site uses its own private proxies, with no cookies, history, etc to impact results.

No site or tool can do any better than reporting exactly what google says.

I've usually used whatsmyserp for quick checking because it saves keywords, but the quoted site isn't bad at all... Thanks.

Just use private browsing / incognito mode. If you want to go beyond that, search behind a proxy or VPN.
