Just don't keyword stuff. Putting your post/page name in the URL is not keyword stuffing...

As far as content...write your page content naturally and you'll be fine.

The man has a point. If you don't want Google to think you are keyword stuffing then just don't stuff keywords. Create your site and it's structure for your users NOT for search engines. That's the key. The moment people concentrate too much on creating a site for search engines, that's generally when they create a site the search engines don't like.

SEO 3.0 is about creating content for users that they naturally want to share.

There was another post asking the same question & one guy said to make it like this.

    /%category%-%postname%.html

Any another guy said the deeper you go with your url structure the harder it will be to rank.

Google thinks a deeper url (example.com/category/keyword/somemorestuff/) is somewhat less important than shallower ones (example.com/post-name/).

At least that has been my experience.

So it looks like it's better to use just /%postname%/ to rank higher for seo for google

Anyone have any actual experience from doing this that they can post here to clear this up.

I mean...it's really moot... What Google wants to see today, they'll ban for tomorrow.

Trying to please them and their insane whims is a fools game. Just don't worry about it and create a website that your site viewers will find useful and don't think about Google.

Believe me, if people like your site, return to it often, tell their friends about it etc...then it doesnt matter HOW you structure your site; Google will rank you well.

On the other hand..if people hate your site, don't return to it, don't tell their friends about it...it doesn't matter HOW you structure your site; Google will NOT rank you well...

I dont think so, never seen a .html at the end of any wordpress site.
Keep it simple, goggle got enough to do with there "robots" lol
just go the post name, forget categories ( on my sites they never rank) but the post name/title always does
    Cheers,

That is good a permalink structure to use for a youtube video blog, and it will not get penalized for this, i have run it for 1 year and i don't have problem with this.

    I like %postname% only.

But the optimal URL structure depends on your site navigation and content. Some sites make a lot of sense to use the category as well. But avoid stuffing with EMD/category/postname...For example: a site about music might use the categories Rap/Alternative/Rock and it would make a lot of sense to keep these in the URL structure...So you might use Musicsite.com/rap/biggie-smalls

What you want to avoid is stuffing it with keywords, for example: Musicsite.com/rap-music/biggie-smalls-rap-music

It's overkill and doesn't help users or search engines.
