How can a site have a PR9 when it has only been established since Nov. of 2012 and there are only 3 backlinks to it? Seems fishy to me and nearly impossible.

If it had a homepage link on twitter...that would do it.

But it is probably fake...its very easy to fake PR, but also easy to see if a site has fake PR.

There is no pagerank checker that cannot be fooled, except google's.
But google will not give us that one.

There are only a handful of PR 9 sites, and they are well known.

A link on a PR9 page will not just automatically give you PR9, It
does not work that way. You can get PR9 from nothing but PR1
sites. But then, that would be illogical that a PR9 page would just
      have links from PR1 sites.

The date of the website being established has nothing to do with PR.
A website could be started today, and have high PR very quick.

Companies buy PR9 "sites." Not average joes. That's your first tip
      off to the rip off.

That is a horrible way to check if the PR of a domain is legit. Those PR checkers are garbage.

You really just need to check the backlinks, however in this case, why do you have to check anything at all? A PR 5 or 6, maybe there would be some question.

If it is a PR 9 and not named CNN, ESPN, Twitter, Facebook, or some other well known established site, it's fake. End of story. Nothing to check. Just use a little common sense.

Using external (non-Google) tools is a rough guess at best but it's all we have unless you work for Google or know someone who does.

And Mike you're right - PR9 sites should be screaming from the roof tops.

Basically there should be no ambiguity.

No it is not a rough guess. Those PR checker tools, like the one you suggested, are extremely easy to fool. One should never use one of those for the purpose of determining if a site has fake PR or not. It's a horrible, horrible method.

The only way to know is to look at the link profile. Toolbar PR is insanely easy to fool (and the digital point scammers are getting better at it).

In my experience most scammer don't even bother building links to their fake PR sites. So if you see less than...I don't know...100k links then it's probably not PR6 or above.

You can check whether PR is Fake or Not! You can write this query in google site:example.com; if the same site appears means that site have original PR, if another site appears means that site is displaying fake PR of this appeared site!
