Worth it to get in the Yahoo! Directory?

I have a site in a very competitive niche but I think I have the right content, sight structure, and some good backlinks but I think I need a few more really good backlinks to get in the top 3 or so rankings. I was thinking of paying $299 for the yahoo! directory listing. I can afford it but I was wondering if it's worth the investment? Has anyone seen their rankings shoot really high up after investing in it? Is it worth the price tag? The top 3 sites I'm competing against are all in the Yahoo! directory.

It's one of the few things in SEO that can help and can't hurt.

I usually list my money sites there. Haven't seen a huge difference, tbh. Still, the trust you get is worth the $$$.

I agree, it certainly can't hurt your site and will most likely benefit your overall authority. I personally haven't used Yahoo directory but have used BOTW directory for sites. Since your competitors are all listed it might be a good idea if you are close behind them in the SERPS.

Will it be the sole kicker to push your site up into the top 3 with your competitors?

I would lean towards no, unless your site is already on the 1st page with a good enough/similar backlink profile as your competitors and your site really doesn't have much authority to begin with. In which case this listing could add some much needed authority. Tell us more about your situation and where you currently stand.

Well according to trust factor my site is actually not very trusted despite having over 10,000 quality backlinks throughout my webpage. My content is good, optimized for SEO, and my webpage is fully optimized for search engines. I still can't seem to rank even after 6 months but maybe the yahoo! directory listing is worth it. I could honestly make that all back in one day if I get top 3 rankings for just a few keywords.

But main problem I am seeing is backlinks, you have built tons of backlinks this is the main problem in my views.

That's A LOT of links, where are they mostly from? When you have that many I question their quality.

Where are you ranking now for your keywords? I don't think the Yahoo! directory is going to be a magic bullet to put you in the top 3.

I got them from Link Emperor of a long time of backlinking. My website is basically sandboxed now and I don't know how to get it out. This has never happend to me...

Screw that, I would buy direct traffic from same niche sites before I would drop $300 on Yahoo & hope traffic shows up via the SERPs.

I always get Business.com and Yahoo Directory for all of my money sites. There are a few other really good managed directories I use too. These are good for setting a foundation, and increasing the overall authority of your site.

If only the competition is ENORMOUS!! It's not worth to pay $300 for such a backlink if your competitors are not using it (because they could rank high without paying for such backlink). Another strategy would be to investigate TOP 3 websites for your keyword (DEEP investigation) -> each backlink, PR, Authority, etc. and try to get them + at least 2-3 more backlinks with similar details!
