Is Popups any problem for SEO?

My question is, is there any problem if I use popups in my websites? Will google penalize my sites for using popups?

    Yes. Adsense websites should not have popups. Why do you want pop ups btw?

      Adsense can have popups just fine, and they have nothing to do with SEO.
      (if you actually read the adsense TOS, you'd know how to use popups and adsense)

      I think every big site and their brother's has that idiotic netflix popup...

      And what does adsense have to do with SEO? Adwords users can actually
      buy overlay ads now...very similar to popups.

      Now if you are talking user experience....that's a different matter.

        Thanks for the information. Google does require a proper way to use popups. I was assuming that since lonfore hasn't told us why he wants pops up, he's probably going to do something fishy. Enlighten us please!

    It`s not good for Adsense, because usually popups are used to advertise, so it`s competition. If you`re not using Adsense, it shouldn`t affect your Google ranking.

    Pop ups are not good because it may hinder Adsense ads from showing. I don't know why you would want to use pop up. Maybe for email opt-in, promotions, etc? Just put them on the sidebar.

    There is no problem of having pop-ups even if you are using AdSense. Whatever purpose you have for wanting to use them, it's just a matter of how you present these pop-ups. You have to make sure that they don't affect the original content. You should get tips on how to use them properly.
