  • Danko,
Are you looking for on-page best practice tips? If so, you must optimize each page for the keyword that you want it to rank for. For the best results, a page must only be about the target keyword. Place that phrase or word in the title tag and meta description of the page, in header tags and in the copy of the page keeping density in mind (typically 2% is good). Backlinks to that page that contain keyword phrases as anchor text you are targeting is also very powerful.

      Danko,
you might want to join a good training where you learn about some more tactics to implement. If you are interested - I have set up 30 days of free training, just click on my signature. No guru, no hype, no make money quick or something like that.
Beside that, Shawn and Skyrider gave you already a great advice: use the SEO plugin by Yoast, add tons of content to your site, optimize it, then go ahead and build some links with forum or blog commenting, building web 2.0 properties, etc.
      good luck!
