Question about pagerank

Hi, I have a question on pagerank. I have a website that is currently on page 7 in google for a particular keyword, however I've used a couple of pagerank checkers and all of them have shown my website has a page rank of 0.

Does it take time for the pagerank checkers to update? Should I be worried about this or is this just normal.

Thanks in advance,
Desmond

Page position is not the same as pagerank. Also, we only see a handful of pagerank updates a year. But it's actually updated constantly.

Google toolbar pagerank and google ranking position are two completely different things. If its an easy competition keyword you can get into the first page of google with good onpage seo but you need to have backlinks to your page to acquire higher pagerank.

Yes, position in SERP and page rank are different.

As you said that your site pr is 0 now, then it may increase in next pr update, if you are working continuously..

Exactly PR and SERP positions are different. As far as PR, the next public toolbar update should be very soon since the last one was in February and historically it's been about every three months. But whatever it ends up being you probably already have that number PR now since it's always changing. But you really shouldn't be considered about the PR of your site. You care about your rankings improving, so what types of things have you been trying to do?

Google updates toolbar PR about every 3 months. The toolbar PR has nothing to do with rankings. However, it does give a good estimation of the authority of a domain. If your PR does improve on the next update, then it would mean that your website is gaining more authority in Google's eyes. Your website should be able to rank better in the search engines overall if the PR increases.

Yes, PR indicates the strength or authority of a webpage and is determined by site content, the strength of the domain, the number of backlinks to the page, the strength of those backlinks, etc, etc.

        This is wrong.

PR is determined by incoming backlinks only.

Apart from incoming backlinks there are many things in determining pr..

You may have seen some pr of your inner pages of your website, have you built link for that? No, and the page may not be shared with other sites as well, still there would be some pr....... why? traffic, content and there are other things too..

The reason inner pages have PR when you haven't created any external backlinks to them is because you are linking to them from the homepage which passes the PR.

PR has nothing to do with traffic, content or any other factors apart from inbound links!

And that, my friend, is how you show you know absolutely nothing.

You are worse than a bot.

Most pages on the internet are a PR0 or have no PageRank at all. In my experience it takes about 90 - 100 days for toolbar PR to update.

You will find if you start building quality links from decent (>PR1), pages, you will slowly but surely move towards page 1.

Better to get one PR2 link from somewhat relevant content (maybe a blog page in your area), than 10,000 crappy little PR0 links.

If you're looking for PR, Backlinking to High PR sites is you're best bet.

Just have to make sure you're comments or content are accepted. So when you post comments don't just compliment the site they will know that's spam.

      Good luck to you

There is no need to worry about PR too much, you should worry about traffic instead.

PageRank and Position in SE are so different.. About once every 3 months a Pagerank update happens and ALL the websites are updated.. Then you will see your NEW PageRank!
