How To Move Website To New Domain

Hello warriors

My main website that I have been working on contains about 40 articles at the moment... But my problem is the google trust filter and bad links that I got from many directories when I didn't know much about SEO... I have read a lot of posts saying that it takes about a year for a new website on a new domain to be recognized for a main keyword that gets many searches a month.

So recently I bought a domain at godaddy, 4 years old with pagerank of 4, and some links pointing to it, so I want to move my site to that domain, I figured google would trust my site a lot faster than it does with my new domain that is about 3 months old.

How do I do this? Must I first get all of my pages de-indexed, and then put up the new site or is a duplicate site ok with google? How do I tell google I'm moving my site?

    Hi Saidar,

There is a whole process to follow to make sure that your new site gets picked up by Google. You can set up a 301 redirect from the old site to the new one. This acts as a forwarding address, telling the search engines to check you out on the new domain. You will also want to set up the XML sitemaps and go back to the good quality links you've attained and get them to switch over the url they are pointing to. However, you may want to start from scratch if you believe the old domain was penalized in some way. Let me know if I can be of further help.
