Hey Guys,

Did you guys see the updated web master guidelines lately ? ..we'll it's now a bad thing to link to a site using bookmarks ! Link schemes - Webmaster Tools Help

This is ridicules ! ..that is how mostly people link to a website they like :confused:

          People always misquote google in this idiotic stuff.
          "Low-quality directory or bookmark site links"

          See, everyone seems to omit "low quality" in vurtually
          every quote from google.

          However, that is an old post. Any high quality bookmark
          site, is now probably nofollow anyway. That's why those
          places did it. To stop spam.

    Yep, but when you bookmark a "cool" site would you go to PR0 website (best-seobookmarking-category.biz) that has zero "real visitors" and it's spammed to death by SEO "gurus" ?

    If all you have are bookmark links you won't get any problem other than no rankings at all...they're junk links and a waste of time for any real business.

    Who the hell bookmarks a site they like in real life?

    I never go to a site and say, "wow, that was amazing. I'm going to go to a social bookmarking site so I don't forget."

    The only people that use bookmark sites are SEOs.

    Not exactly the same thing here, but you ever notice how Google Chrome browser will auto-suggest the pages you've saved in your Chrome favorites/bookmarks, I guess it's a default setting.

    So that means everyone running Chrome is getting skewed auto-suggestions while searching from their Chrome search bar, based on what that user has already saved in the their browser/favorites/bookmarks.

    Save/bookmark a web page in Chrome as a fake word (ex: cornflubber), then close the Chrome browser, open Chrome & search the Chrome search bar for the word cornflubber, you'll see your saved page drop down on the search auto-suggest.

    There is some merit in posting to Reddit and Stumbleupon, as a couple have mentioned, in the right way (at the right time!). Don't spam them. Have something to say, whether funny, interesting or informative. Most of the rest is crud. Bookmarking, in general, does suck large wafer.

    I think someone will eventually create a program to bookmark every page on the internet a dozen times...then what?

    Allowed a person to submit a post to my site. The post ranked very good for many months. Then he bookmarked it about 10 times. You cant even find the page in search anymore.
