Google just isn't picking up my site???

Hi Gang

I've created quite a few sites before, but for this new one I've done, Google just doesn't seem to be finding it. I digged it a couple of weeks ago, did a USfreead, propeller, there are 3 Ezine articles pointing to it etc. Now admitedly, the site is only a couple of weeks old but surely Google should have crawled this right? All my other submissions are there on page one but not the site. Also, Yahoo has found it, not MSN yet.

Oh, and I've also submitted the sitemap to Google. So what do you think is up? Or am I just being impatient. It's my Wife's site so I'm keen to get it going before she starts jumping on my plums...well, grapes more like...I digress!!

Thanks
Phil

Keep adding new content and add to the directories, unless there is something wrong with the site it should pick up soon. Usually adding a wordpress blog to the site and doing the all in one seo plugin will get you picked up pretty quickly.

    Hi phil,

If you have other websites that are indexed, just add a link on a couple websites to this new one.

I would also periodically check your Google Webmaster Tools account, they will post when they last crawled the site and whether they found any issues.

You can also just add a link to your signature on this forum and that will get the spiders to your new site PDQ.

Did you check your status in Google Webmasters Tool? It is really useful. I once had this issue and finally when I added my sitemap to the webmasters tool it showed me a serious error with regard to the sitemap location in the web server. Once I fixed it, googlebot came in and my site got indexed in less than 3 days.

Yes, use the Google Webmaster Tool, submit your sitemaps & getting it verified. It helped in my case. How many times those googlebots are hitting your site in a day?

Google looks for content on a site or blog and the time people spend there-consider your site content-put a google analytic code on your site to see what and who is coming to your site let them come-never submit a site, the spiders crawlers what ever find you. Blogs get indexed straight away-hardly ever make a website now,put a blog together a week ago 90 hits so far direct from Google,I did nothing to push it yet-Just remember your niche and content-Give it time-made a mistake of buying links once for a new website of mine -right into the sandbox for 4 months-

Submit the RSS feed to rss directories and ping them often.

I'll throw my 2 cents in here... Ebay blog. Set one up and write a post about your new site with a link. Then ping the blog URL through pingomatic or something similar. I've been having lots of success getting my new sites indexed within a couple days this way lately.

      John,

Great tip, but upon trying an eBay blog for the first time, it does not look like they allow HTML in their blog posts. How does one get a link to the new site in the eBay blog post???

Do you have a blog? If so, you might write a post that links to it. I can usually index new sites right away with my blog.

    Hi Phil,

Check your robots.txt file is setup correctly / that you have one in place. You are right, you should have seen the bot visit your pages by now.

I think Google might have picked it up and indexed it but as is usual with new domains now a days Google might have dropped you from listing. this usually happens within a week or 2 of airing it. I t will come back in the list within a month so there is no cause to worry.

If it is not your first site then I am sure you know the keywords game. Your knowledge digg, propeller etc. gives the idea you know how to play games...

Then only factor remains the age of your site. As the site is not old enough, so you need to be patient for some days more...

Ya this sucks but it happens to everybody just get some links out there and you'll get crawled. I find with a new domain it takes at least a month before you really start to get crawled by Google. A good thing to do in the meantime is work on growing real traffic. Improve the quality of your site, maybe join some forums or other places on the web where people are interested in topic pertaining to your site. Be patient this stuff takes time.

Oops sorry for posting again but I find people but way to much emphasis on the search engines im no advertising expert but I do find direct traffic(People bookmark you site or punch it in vie Url converts far better then search engine traffic) Although I do find search engine traffic has some good conversions the heart and soul of your site is usually from direct traffic. As these people were interested enough to actually bookmark it. I also notice the direct traffic tends to spread via word of month.
