OK...something is going in with Google's Search Results today

One of our blogs is spiking today in traffic and it's the one we did the least amount of linking - actually none.

It dipped around May 9th, went lower, then Penguin launched and we bounced 20% back up.

Today it's regaining everything it lost from May 9th in the way of higher traffic keywords. Penguin resulted in a lot of spam above us in our niche so perhaps Google is trying to clean things up a little.

Anyone else seeing changes in ranking today?

    Only one of my sites has dropped today, from #2 to #5.. There's no explanation for it, it has the same links as my other 15 sites..

      There slowing whacking the spam here cause our pageloads and unique visitors is going to be double today from yesterday and that is not normal.

      And I'll say it again my friendly and well meaning linking fanatics. WE NEVER CREATED A SINGLE LINK TO THE SITE - just wrote lots of content and used Wordpress.

    Same thing for me.
    I have a 3 month old site that's getting 350-400 daily visits from the 3 big search engines.
    It has zero links, all the content is sourced and credited to high PR sites or embeded from YouTube.
    It literally has less than 20 backlinks, and they're just from my own social accounts.

    Everyday I keep checking to see it's dipped, but it just keeps rising, and is hitting some crazy keyword combos.

    Strange, as I've spent thousands on backlinks to other sites I own, with virtually no improvement.

    Funny old game huh?

    One of my websites went from
    #300+ to #20 (keyword 1)
    and
    #300+ to #121 and back to #300+ again (keyword 2)
    in a few hours.

    Two days ago I had never been in top 300 with those keywords.

    I see a partial recovery of traffic on a website which lost 60% of its traffic on May 9th. That update was not claimed by Google, but there are numerous reports that it impacted sites.

      Exactly - we had one that lost pretty the same 60% on May 9th and it's rebounding last two days, and all that 60% looks to be back.

      So the dance is not over

        Well I just went to Google and typed in: emotiva xpa-3 amplifier review, and from page 2 onward I see a LOT of blogspot blogs. They look pretty spammy though, so I think there is a lot going on in the search results right now.
