Few Private Network questions

Hi all,

I'd like to start by building a small private blog network, and just had a few questions.

1 - I am currently only looking at trying to buy 5-10 sites to start off with. What are the recommended hosts for doing this? I didn't want to go with the most expensive, but also don't want to go the ultra-cheap route either.

2 - Is it better to buy the domains I want to use first and then buy hosting?

3 - I don't know if this is useful, but is it possible to power up some Web 2.0's to have PR and use them as part of the network? If so what is the best way to power up these Web 2.0's?

Thanks!

A great place to find a range of hosts is webhostingtalk.com. If you head to the 'shared hosting offers' part of the 'web hosting offers' section you can find decent hosts for around $3/4 a month as they offer discounts at the forum. I would recommend using a different host for each of the sites you are using in your network.

Yeah get the domains first then sign up for hosting for each one.

Yeah this is possible if you link to your web 2.0 pages from your private network sites. Having said this, I'm not sure if it is the best way to go in terms of long term rankings as using web 2.0 pages to rank seems to be the next target for google.

    1. If you are planning to create your own private blogging network, then you must consider buying C-class ip hosting or hosting company providing wide range of ips including all class of ips. I have used leapswitch, cclassiphosting,unixguru.co.uk are quite reasonable. If you want to use normal hosting then you have use multiple accounts so that each site has unique IP.

    2. Yes, you should buy them first, as you need to set up your hosting and sites based on that.

    3. Yeah its possible to power up some web 2.0 and use them on your blogging network but do remember you need to have a custom domain which you can use on web 2.0. The web 2.0 will just host your site with their hosting IP. Since they have trusted ip's so you will get that privilege, apart from that it wont help you much rather than cutting down your hosting cost.

    hope that helps
