i have sometimes seen when searching for some blogs that a small thumbnail appears of person/s beside the search results. any idea how this is achieved?

    They are pictures of criminals from the FBI's most wanted list. Google flashes them in front of people from time to time. To try jog your memory of ever seeing them. Just like the missing kids pics on milk cartons.

    Some guy told me once that this wasn't true and it was something called Google+ Authorship. I don't believe him though.

    I'm not being funny but did you even look into this at all?

    If you just go to Google and type "thumbnail image in google search results" you will get a page full of answers to your question.

    I think it is google authorship which also allows and shows the author information in the search results.
