URL Forwarding the same as a 301 Redirect?

Hello,

I will be moving Site A to Site B. All content and internal links will stay the same just a new domain url.

My question is the Namecheap URL Forwarding the same as a 301 Redirect? If I put the slash (/) after the domain in the url it will match each page and forward to the same page on the new domain.

It is a Wordpress blog so I can find a plugin to do 301 Redirects but was curious if the URL Forwarding would do the same thing? It would be much easier if so....

    They are the same thing basically, to forward a URL, you can use a 301 Redirect. Google prefers 301 redirects for sites that are URL forwarded, and doing it that way reduces the risk of being flagged for duplicate content between the two sites.

    If you are changing your site address it is important to redirect from your old site to the new one. If you simply change address then Google will consider that there are 2 sites with the same content and also your links to your old site will not follow you to your new one. You can use this wordpress plugin which I find to be very simple and straight forward: Redirection – Manage 301 redirections without modifying Apache | Urban Giraffe

    Your links from your old site will then follow you to your new site and anyone searching your old address will be forwarded to the new one.

    @Jwarri - Thanks for the plugin info. I like the fact that it logs the redirects and monitors for 404 errors. Namecheap does 301 redirects from their forward domain panel. Super easy but doesn't do any logging so I think the Redirection plugin is much better suited for the job.
