Backlinking is so boring, how do you do it?

I don't do it.

I prefer to put my effort into creating content that people naturally want to link to and share themselves AND I concentrate on using paid traffic as it's far more predictable and reliable.

Organic traffic and link building is far to unreliable nowadays and only getting worse.

You can get a link wheel done for you on fiverr.... I'm not sure about the quality though.

  Scrapebox is great, but not for spamming. If you are using it to find high quality pages to put your link on, then this software is fantastic.

  Back to OP, I do all my link building stuffs myself, I never outsource anything, I work on a scheduled kind of pattern where on each day of the week I handle one strategy.
  For ex:
  day 1 - create content
  2 - Publish content
  3 - Some social signals and bookmarking
  4 - again write content
  5 - Guest post and link building

Well, backlink building is one of toughest area of SEO and I am sure boring also. If you are good in writing article (I mean enjoy writing) write articles which interests you and submit them to top article directories. Also try guest blogging and I feel it is not boring if you are interested in writing.

I do not think it will penalize your website if you do it slowly and carefully. Try to make sure the wheels are unique and quality one. Always check your webmaster tools account for any unnatural link warning.

Just automate it, man. Doing manual backlinking is as you said "BORING AS HELL"

For those people who keeps saying "manual backlinking is the way to go", ignore those noobs.

Do you think Google can detect a backlink built by a software & manual? I highly doubt it. The only thing they can detect is the quality of the content and most people who automate it and failed use crap content & spin it to make it worse.

I know the feeling and I fell into the trap myself of doing it by myself manually which can seem like a total drain sometimes and get very boring. I now create content on my sites myself that I know will interest people that visit and hopefully they will share my link which helps with backlinks.

Automate your SEO process. Create an SEO plan, and find a way to automate each aspect. This may entail using softwares or hiring people to do the work for you. You may not trust others with your SEO, but if the tasks are pretty straightforward, you shouldn't have any issues. Plus, there are certain kinds of links that only certain people have access to.

I stopped doing my own SEO awhile ago and it makes it so much easier to scale my other plans

Outsource it! But do it smart. Figure out your back-linking strategy first and I mean write everything down - what websites to links to, how many links per day, what type of links per day etc. Then you can just go to Odesk or Freelancer and post a project.
This way you will have a very good control over your backlinking campaign. But you will need to provide a freelancer with as much details as possible.

There is a difference between letting somebody to do SEO for your site and making somebody to do SEO work for you.

SEO softwares are pricey. Some are subscription based. Most of the time they needs private proxies that need to be paid, too including some are using on the VPS. Cost involved are a good amount that could produce some decent quality backlinks. Even not 1,000,000 backlinks like automated softwares, it could produce a decent quality Vs. Quantity. If using the right, it's won't cause headache but if using inapropriately, it will cause so much headach.

Just aquire a few quality related backlinks per day is not much job to do and even ranking boost at a very stable speed as well as crazy animals proof with low risk.

but if its a business don't you dare do any of this $2.00 an hour activity.

do it once to understand the process then hire this out

you need to focus on the most highest value of your time and work on your business instead of in it

Lower competition terms. (But usually very buyer oriented.) Going after competitive terms is time consuming and potentially expensive.

Lower competition = more time creating content and less time working on backlinking.

Don't use Fiverr for SEO, just for small things, like any research or any data entry job. Backlinking is boring, yes, but it could be much profitable if you do it the right way

The easiest solution would be to hire a VA to do your backlinking for you. Train them how to do it, set up a system to monitor their work, and you'll have more time to do the things that would make you more money. It'll actually cost you more money doing menial tasks like this yourself in the long run.
