Media.net contacted me today about my website. They want me to sign up and increase ad revenue. Looks like Adsense but via Yahoo and Bing. Anyone got experience with them?

I have a lot of experience with them. They are easily the best AdSense alternative, and sometimes even better than AdSense (depending on your niche and site layout).

The great thing about the company is that they are extremely hands on. They constantly run tests and optimize your ad units to make them look like a natural part of your site.

I think the best use for Media.net units is to use alongside AdSense units so you can increase the number of ads on any given page (3 AdSense units + 3 Media.net units)

How long does it take after original registration to know if you've been approved? Adsense got banned and I have been waiting a week with no response.

It could take up to 2-3 weeks. Atleast that was my experience.

They contacted me a couple of days back and then the representative created an account for me. I have set up the ads and they have told that for the next 4-5 weeks they'll run test ads on my site and tweak the campaign. I'll have to wait and see and I think it'll be a better alternative to adsense.

I'm not sure. I got invited to the program so I was accepted right away. Try contacting an account manager, or, if you know someone who uses their program, have them put in a good word for you.

I have heard that Media.Net beats out Adsense in some niches, but in the niches I tested them in (tech and gaming), they performed at about 1/10 of what Adsense normally does. Mixing their ads with Adsense ads lowered my overall earnings. That being said, it is always best to test. YMMV.

    Are you already using Adsense?

If yes, don't bother. It is highly unlikely that you will get better revenues and besides, even if you do, it should be short lived. From my personal experience, I never liked it (as an advertiser) and hence the churn rate should be high.

However, you can't compare it with Adsense.. because Adsense provides most relevant ads to your website as it has good number of advertisers...In case, you don't have Adsense then as an alternative you can use it.

I signed up for a media.net inivation over the weekend and they sent me login information today. I plan to test one ad. Hopefully it doesn't clobber my adsense earnings.
