I think keyword research is so important because searching for every informations and values on internet has been done by typing keywords,
And I guess keyword researching has nearly crucial importance for online marketing.

Market samurai, for instance, may be recommended for it though it is (a little) expensive ($99 per month), isn't it any other decent ones beside this?
(Google keyword tool is not bad but it seems to be very basic.)

I use Market Samurai and the Google Keyword Tool. If you want to spend some money I would go with SEOCockpit. It's around $97 a month but well worth the money if SEO is your thing.

The Google Keyword Tool is the best. It gives accurate data. All other programs may use old data and that can really cost you money if you build a web site based on outdated keywords.

I agree with this.... commonsense and a feeling for your niche.

Don't forget that a lot of the results from the google keyword tool are skewed by marketers searching for keywords..

    Agreed!

Market samurai, for instance, may be recommended for it though it is (a little) expensive ($99 per month), isn't it any other decent ones beside this?

I tired Market Samurai a while ago ( did the trial) but I wasn't so pleased with it. I think that the Google Keyword tool is very effective but you need to "dig in". You need to be creative when searching for keywords and the selection most certainly takes longer than with Market Samurai.

However, you can find some " nuggets" with the Google Keyword. Keywords you would not have thought about in the first place.

I also use UBBERSUGGEST. It's slightly different but it's a neat tool. You get a list of keywords starting from A to Z and you can then move onto the Google Keyword. Again, you'll find nuggets If you persevere.

    Best of luck.

    What does keywords stands for?

Keywords are important because of search market, so if we don't optimize our website targeting the search market then keywords would become useless.

Now ask yourself who is the king of search market????

Yes, you are right - Google has more than 70% of share in search market.

While they are offering you a tool for keywords research and analysis, to rank in their search engine, then it would obviously a good one.

I really got surprised as on what ground you said that their keywords research tool seems to very basic to you.

Common, it comprises of everything, which no other tools can offer, I think you might not have checked it thoroughly that's why said that.....

Google Keywords Research tool is not good, it is the best.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!

It's a case to case basis, most people use Google keyword tool with its reliable results.
But I only use it for light scouting, While for a more in-depth search Market Samurai is my picked research keyword tool.

Google keywords tool get my vote too.
I use Market Samurai also but not so much for keyword research, more for competition instead.
I thinks it's important to not be 100% reliable on keyword tools but instead use common sense and think outside the box when you do keyword research.

Google adwords keyword toll is still best but if you want to check the competition, Market Samurai is best, its is paid but save lot of your time.

And even after that, If you want to check the competition.

It'll provide the monthly searches, QSR and domain availability for that keyword and a few other features, Also offers site rank tool which I've found to be pretty accurate, a listing of sites in first page, affiliate programs listed for your keyword and trending topics with Amazon, Google, Twitter ect....

To all those people who say Google Adwords Keyword Tool is the best and the only thing you need, you are missing an essential part of the keyword research equation - namely competition.

GWKT tells you virtually nothing about the competition for keywords.

I am finding it challenging to compete for popular keywords but I have been 1 for some keywords but they are not so popular.

If you want free, you can use GKT, do you domain research on a register, such as register.com, research competition using open site explorer. Market Samurai, Longtailpro, Ultimate Niche Finder is software where you can do all in one place... plus more. If you have the money, you can always try the software. If you don't like it, they all offer refunds or trial periods. Time is money, and you can save an extraordinary amount of time using software.

I always use the Google Keyword Tool as a starting point (and this is what a few automated systems use too, behind the scenes).

What's important to remember is that keywords are only the start of it.

Yes, you need to know the keywords that people are searching for, but then the hard work starts. You need to analyse the keywords to try to determine whether or not you have any hope of ranking for these keywords... and that's a whole subject in itself.

From a list of hundreds you might end up with just a small handful of possibles.

In addition to the tools everyone has mentioned I would suggest searching on Google for your main keyword and then scrolling to the bottom of the page to see the LSI keywords in "related searches".

Also, use the text prediction of both Google and Bing by typing in the main keyword and seeing what it suggests. Then try adding each letter of the alphabet after your keyword to see what else it suggests.
