Anchor Text Diversity Questions

Hi,

My anchor text distribution is (not counting nofollow, deleted links or redirects):

Brand - 49%
URL - 17%
Target Keywords - 28%
Generic - 5%

I rank on page 1 for a 12 out of the 50 keywords I am working for. But the big main keyword one was on the bottom of page 1 but now dropped back to page 2.

Half my links are to the homepage.

(There was a couple of companies and people who worked on this website before I started).

I had a couple of questions, say my brand name is called brand1 and my target keywords are keyword1.

I count brand as:
brand1 - keyword1
brand1 - the best in the world
brand1 - random text...

I count target keyword as any text with the target keyword apart from with brand1 at the front.
e.g. keyword1 - brand1

And for generic, is there an exhaustive list of generic keywords?

Should I vary my anchor texts more? What is the best way? Also is dofollow forum signatures and dofollow blog comments ok to do (what name do you put on the blog comments, your real one or do you randomly use different names, it is hard to put click here or a target keyword in there)? Or should I stick with guest posts or getting authority sites to review my website?

And what is the best tool for finding anchor text diversity? I use Majestic SEO and export the anchor text into excel and do it manually (I use the historic index only but its 30 days old).
