Hey Everyone,

I set up a blog around 2 and a half months ago and am receiving some traffic but not too much, around 15 unique visitors a day. I have been using adsense but have so far made less than $10 and am currently ranking in the 40s for a keyword that recieves 2'900 exact monthly searches.

I have been using SEO techniques to try and increase my rankings but am now going to start focusing more on getting traffic rather than increasing rankings. My plan is to set up an email list and use a combination of paid and free traffic to get more subscribers to my list which i then can send out my affiliate links to.

Now I was wondering what your guys favorite monetization strategy is for blogs and your thoughts on my plan. You can check out my blog here: http://meditationtechniqueforbeginners.com

Cheers Guys!

Well done getting up and running, you're off to a good start. I would suggest focusing purely on getting traffic to your site initially. With just a few hundred visitors a month you are not going to be able to make much revenue however you monetize it. Start building your mailing list, make sure you have some great content and keep in touch with them regularly and build a relationship with your readers.

When you have a few hundred in your mailing list start to test monetization methods with that and on your site that are gentle. Track all of them and see which performs the best.

Focusing on getting traffic is really good thing!

But if you focus on content creation then it would also give you traffic and ranking too.

I see already you are promoting a clickbank product which is a good idea... If you write some good content you can always soft pitch a product in the content if you feel that product will help your visitors. I never been a big fan of adsense its okay if you use it as long as it doesnt stand out and hinder the look of your blog. You may get a few extra bucks a month which you can use for hosting or what not.

But most of your money can come from promoting products or once you get enough traffic you can sell advertising spots for related services or sites. You can also give out a free guide or setup a newsletter to get people for your email list a promote products that way.

I think membership program is best
The “freemium” model is a huge and growing trend in online income right now. You provide a lot of quality content for free to your audience, and you provide a premium-level program to those willing to pay for it. You charge a monthly membership and that provides continuity and a steady income stream.
