How to get backlinks from infographics

I've seen quite a few threads in this section lately about infographics:
  • How to find a topic
  • How to make them
  • How to get links from them
etc.

Yesterday I published something at Backlinko that anyone into link building or infographic marketing should read:

The post breaks down my system for generating links from infographics, but here's the highlight reel for the Warriors out there who are too busy trolling to read it:

1. Find a topic:

There’s no shortcut here: if you want people to share your infographic, it has to be good.

You need to pick a topic that’s what I like to call: “Freshly Relevant”.

Let me explain…

In my case, I noticed that people published articles about on-page SEO every week…but they rehashed the same advice from 2003.

That told me that there was demand for the topic, but no up-to-date content to meet it.

2. Link prospecting:

Now that you have your infographic published on your site, it’s time to find your link targets.

With my infographic, I was looking for sites that had already published content about on-page SEO.

To find them, I just searched Google for things like “on page SEO”, “on page seo tips” and anything else that Google Suggest came up with.

3. Show people your infographic:

When I found a site in the results that looked promising, I sent them this email:

4. Provide extra value:
When people got back to me saying they'd like to see it, I sent them the infographic along with a 250-word "mini guest post".

I found that my conversion rate increased SIGNIFICANTLY after offering this little "bribe".

There's a bit more to it than that, but those are the VERY basic steps you need to take for a successful infographic campaign.
