Will it help SEO to make your web address out of your keywords?

Eg: If you're a carpenter, and your keywords are "Montreal Carpenter" how much will it help if your web address is "www.montrealcarpenter.ca"?

This will most certainly help - if nothing else it will increase your CTR as potential visitors will see it as more relevant than a generic site.

You could always split test though if you are unsure which way to proceed, then let the data make the decisions for you.

    Best of luck!

What is split testing? Set up both and compare the results?

This is probably more of subjective question, but but what if the url www.CarpenterMontreal.com exists, would it be a bad idea to use www.montrealcarpenter.ca?

I'm leaning towards yes, because when it comes to the consumers I always try to follow the "keep it simple stupid" philosophy, and figure people might confuse my URL with another.

Also, what if I use the domain www.jackthecarpenter.com will it be pointless or useful to open up a blog with www.montrealcarpenter.com and have the content linking to my site?

Exact Match Domains have little if any impact these days with serps, its a thing of the past. You still have to do good SEO in order to rank for them.

EMDs dont have that much strength by having the keywords in the domain name anymore. You still need to build a quality website in order for it to gain traction.

Sorry I know you guys already answered the question but I just wanted to make sure I understand fully.

You guys both mentioned that it "doesn't have that much strength" or that "it has little impact" but even if I put the time/effort into a quality site, is it worth creating a separate site or blog with an exact match domain? I just noticed last night that the top 3 results in my industry all have exact match domains on another site or blog to supplement their primary sites.

It is worth creating site on EMD and you would get benefits too.. you can check in SERP, some EMD is ranking good, with the help of only on-page optimization.

It is good from user point of views too.
