Blog Comment is still the best way to rank your site in Google

A quick background about my little experiment that was started last February of this year.

>> I registered 2 EMDs in com and net and put the same content (6 articles with the same photos)

>> two sites hosted in different servers (lovinghosting.com and hostgator.com)

>> I submitted both sites into more than 200 social bookmarking sites.
>> I submitted both sites into 38 rss sites

The difference:

>> I put the .com site into my 100+ forum signatures not named warriorforum and sitepoint.com

>> I posted around 20 blog comments for my .net site on blogs with related niches, all 20 comments were approved having my name and keyword (adie - keyword)

The result after around 4 months? the .net site is 3rd on Google's first page while the .com is on the 7th page (ranked 73rd).

So now, I stopped putting my sites in my forum signatures outside WF and concentrated on blog commenting manually. it pays the hardwork...

That's very interesting. Thank you for sharing.

Blog commenting is something I've never done and I've struggled to find an article showing step by step how to do it correctly to build backlinks whilst still adding value to the blog.

I have a google plus account but that's in my name. Do I need to create one for each business or do you post and promote different sites using the same account?

Could someone give a nice example of a blog comment in action that registered in Google as a back link please?

    Thanks

So you are saying that blog comments may work for easy keywords. Might so...

... but please man, change your thread title, it's disturbing yet misleading.

Yeah, I have to agree with "online only." Unless you tell us more about your keywords and the competition, this thread is meaningless.

ranking your site on google really depends upon the time and hard work that you put on it.

After penguin 2.0 I can say this does not work anymore, I tested this with a few sites.

Well, not "tested" exactly, just so happened that the sites in question only had blog comments for backlinks (did not have the time to really build them up).

    after 2.0 these sites tanked.

Where those quality blog comment backlinks like the OP, or lower quality (but higher quantity) backlinks?

Well unless we know what are those 100+ forums you are talking and the 20 niche related blog comments you made, you can't really tell the your claim is correct. Everyone knows the link building is about quality and not quantity. Perhaps 20 blog comments > 100+ forum signatures when analysis and evaluation are made among those backlinks.

If both sites had exact content wouldn't one get hit with a penalty?

Agree, at least you share what you believe and proven to work for you. Unlike other member of WF who keep bashing other members share.

BTW, blog commenting will always work if 1. backlink is do follow, 2. Not much outbound link from that page, 3. If the page have high pr, 4. With good content.

Well done! Thank you so much for sharing your study. Do you mean blog commenting is much more useful than forum signature? If so, it is quiet interesting. I thought they are always same. Oh, I was wrong.

I don't know about best way. But for me I love doing link partnerships. Where I find high relevant blogs/sites with a good pr and a following. From there, I can get a link through sponsorship and what not. E-mail outreach for the win!

Not sure, very possible that the 100+ forum signature links actually hurt your .com site and thus limited it in the ability to rank.

Either way, I would never base my link building on mass bookmarking and blog commenting.

    I'd say the sites ranked
in spite of doing ridiculous things that don't matter.

Like 200 bookmarking sites? Man, I have no idea what planet 200
bookmarking sites that matter actually reside, cuz the ones that do, you could
count on one hand. Less than one hand.

    Hello,

I have a question (I'm newbie in blogging) when you comment in a blog, do you use your Blogger account (the account which holds the blog you are ranking) to comment on other blogs?

Will really appreciate your reply. Thanks

It does not mean that forum links are bad, but the truth is the any backlinks from related blogs with ranked posts and few comments will have better value.

Blog comments alone would only get you as far as ranking long tail (low traffic keywords). Most of your comments on high PR quality blogs would not get approved if you have your anchor instead of your name.

If aimning for high comp keywords, blog commenting alone wouldn't get you anywhere. It's always a great idea to diversify.

Buying home page links on high pr sites.

    wikis

Interesting case study but I would have to agree that there should be more details behind this technique. I would still prefer to get a mix of backlinking strategies and focus more on content marketing and social media marketing. But hey, good that it works for you.
