I feel this is also a very important part of on-page SEO as this also helps you in quick ranking. If you have a domain name with either the niche your are into or the keywords then surely you will get a lot of boost in google ranking.

    Hope this helps?

I believe domain name should be the first thing to consider before creating even the website, and atleast make sure the domain has at least a keyword you are targeting.

In short, domain name is the best place for keyword
Also in Search engine result page first show page title and second the domain name and then the description. in those most highlighted part is the domain name. users will not click in all the links but only some attractive links . So make it more relevant and attractive to get clicked

It is definitely helpful but not an easy get like it used to be.

I always try to get a keyword rich domain, and one with existing pagerank and traffic is nice too. These get you a nice foundation.

But if someone does nothing about their onsite seo, then it is a wasted effort.

All other things being equal, a domain name with the keywords in it will win out. But all other things are almost never equal.

All depends on the site you are planning on making. If you are creating a site that you want people coming back to and reading and sharing all day every day, create a brandable domain. For example, i called my website "SEOnutshell" because its catchy and people will remember it (i hope?)

If i was selling electric blankets with an ammazon affiliate link i would name the domain something like buyelectricblankets.com because its something someone would click on to buy the product.

So eh domain is extremely important, but think what the site is for before making any purchases you may regret when you are trying to build a serious business around a crummy domain name.

Tested this with my own domain. I had a pretty generic domain name so i purchased a domain that was my generic with the keyword added so example.com to examplekeyword.com. I moved my site and updated from zen cart to magento so not sure how much of the boost was magento and how much was the domain but I jumped from below 300 to page 4~5 in a month. it is pretty worth it if you can get it but you can over come that with a good backlinking program so its not a mandatory thing but it really does help.

Having your keyword in your domainname will help in rankings...also as stated here above, your online identity is also recognized by your domainname.

Domain name matters much in search engines. It gives a hint and the summary of what you website is all about and what can be the contents. A related domain with keyword is more beneficial than with unrelated domain names.

  • The domain name of a website does not need to have any relationship with the keywords that it targets.

Any domain name can be optimized to target any keyword and/or range of keywords, and not need to have a domain name that is related to the keywords that it is targeting.

Keywords in Domain name is a good practice but not necessary..Domain name should always be eye catchy and interesting and also recognizable..Domain name should not be about SEO, it should be about your brand recognisation..
