Google Keyword Tool Competition Column

I want to get rid of this confusion once and for all because I am even starting to see people use it as an example in their SEO guides in WSOs, etc. I know a bunch of people around me that use it and this is just to clear everyone up on the subject. When people are using the Google Keyword Tool, they refer to the competition column and use the value of the competition for SEO use - Unfortunately, the column for competition does not tell you how easy it is to rank for something but it tells you the competition of advertisers who wish to advertise that keyword (CPC).
