Hai Warriors,

In a really depressed situation and even a small help is greatly appreciated.

I am the webmaster for a site that used to rank at the top in the Google search results for almost five years consistently. I do regular SEO without violating any SEO guidelines provided by Google.

Suddenly by around the 10th of July, my site just disappeared from Google Search Results. There is no clue what so ever.

I tried all possible things. I rolled back the few new pages I added, I checked my site for any spam links and all other bad practices stated by Google and found none.

I have also submitted a reconsideration request.

I have a very big doubt. I had another domain registered and parked. A few months back the Server admin made a live copy of the site and hosted the parked domain with the same contents in the same server with the same IP address.

Do you'll have ay ideas that doing this will cause a penalty or de-indexing or something similar. Please help me with the steps that I should follow to get my site indexed again and gain back the rankings.

Thanks in Advance
Jameer

Was the copied content indexed by Google? But it should not make your site disappear from Google... If your site was ranking well in SERPs, then why you were doing SEO for five years continually? It may be a reason that you just built ETHICAL LINKS but never built content....

      Hai Rehmat,

      Thanks for the reply.

By SEO I just didn't mean link building alone. I made sure that genuine resource pages and content pages were added at regular intervals. The new pages were indexed regularly and they too got very good PR in a short time. Matter of fact my domain in having a PR 6.

Can i ask why you made the live copy? One of those "cuz i can" moments?

Did you gt an PM's in webmaster tools? If you were as white hate as you say, id say that it would be the duplicate site. Remember seeing a thread on Digitalpoint where someone made a lot of money from adsense, he duplicated the site and got banned.

I suggest you remove the new copy as a first port of call though.

      Thanks Seonutshell.

It was actually one of those moments where the stars turn their face away when I made that live copy.

I did get a PM in GWMT stating that the traffic to my site has suddenly decreased and then I was in panic mode.

Now I have removed that duplicate site, placed a robots.txt to disallow all bots and also send a reconsideration request to Goolge. Got a reply that they haven't penalized the site for any spam.

So now what should I be doing to get back my site. This is where I'm puzzled.

That's about when Panda soft update ran I believe. Also I would put money on the fact you're building links as well.

        Hai Bestseoguy,

You can try adding Google Rich Snippets for websites or can use the Data Highlighter tool in Google WebMaster Tools to highlight the most important data in your webpages so Google can better understand your page.

But be careful to highlight the most relevant content and not the keywords alone that you're targeting for. Coz doing that way may hurt you negatively.

        Thanks

Did you change anything about your meta keywords at all before this happened? Maybe a recent update for Google Penguin has caused what were once 'legitimate' backlinks to now be considered spammy. Though possibly they were obtained with the best intentions.

Today I read a good article on searchenginewatch.com and it was about how Google punishes even good sites with unique content and good SEO. This happens because your site might have something in common with some bad sites and you had the bad luck to get a penalty. But in this case a reconsideration letter should have solved your problem.
Maybe there are some bad links on sites which you couldn't access at the moment of your check.
