Backlink Miner for link/domain analysis

Anyone tried this tool? How does it compare to some of the others on the market?

    Haven't actually tried the tool but thought about it a little while back. There were a few things that put me off:

    1. It pulls data from MOZ. Ahrefs and MajesticSEO (and possibly SEO Spyglass) provide more comprehensive backlink data than MOZ and unless you're going to get the paid MOZ API then it's also going to limit you to 1000 backlinks per URL.

    2. From what I can see it doesn't tell you whether the links are live or not which SEO Spyglass and Majestic SEO both offer.

    3. Maybe its just me but their website struck me as a bit amateurish, especially when compared to the other big names such as Ahrefs, Majestic and SEO Spyglass. This makes me think that the support/development of the tool wouldn't be on par with the others.

    Having said this the interface does look good. It would be interesting to here from others that have used the tool.

      Always putting some tool out there I end up spending money on

      Edit: Won't get my money this time. No ahrefs api and seomoz is very poor with number of backlinks.

      My money still stays with this

        Leave it to you to turn the tables. Just took a look at the sales page and the impression that I get is that it doesn't actually fetch backlinks like spyglass would. Says that you have to paste in your backlinks which will then be broken into tiers and monitored by the software. Am I missing something? And if im wrong then how would you compare it to spyglass? Seems like the backlink monitor would also be good for reverse engineering private networks and keeping everything tidy.

        edit: I see that you mentioned an api, which I am assuming would allow it to retrieve links from one of the big crawlers vs pasting them in manually. I'll have to download the trial when I get home and give this a go.

          Ahrefs baby. $50 for an APi key and no monthly fee. You use up a penny to do a backlink check on a domain so you have to check around 5,000 domains before you need to load again. Say goodbye to copy and paste. However no bulk checker which I will be looking from them in a future version.

          Really SEO SPyglass should have gone that route with an API key access to ahrefs. I guess they didn't because it would be game over for their algo update subscription. Their new beta services is a little better but no replacement for ahrefs.

            How does this work. Just buy Backlink Monitor and it already has the ahrefs API? Or do I have to buy the BM, then go and get the ahrefs and install the api myself like a hack?

            The tiered checking looks awesome.

              Ahrefs wants their payment so you have to get both (still adds up to less than SEO spyglass and gives a lot more links) but there is no hacking

              You get the api key here
              https://ahrefs.com/api/

              That will give you a long old number and letter string. Then in Backlink Monitor you click the button with the chain link and green plus sign



              Then click import from web and then ahrefs. Paste your api key in and click get backlinks and then after it pulls the links click ok. As long as you shut down the program normally after you are done using it that time it will remember the api key.

              No bulk facility is a bummer but I have a macro tool that reads a text file line by line and it runs Backlink monitor to go through the list. They should add a bulk feature though. Also drop in some proxies or else the default setting will pause after each backlink is analyzed.

              One last annoyance is that it can over report links in the default setting because it sees minor differences in the url as separate

              www.backlink.com/index.html may be counted as a different link as www.backlink.com/index.htm

              It does have some weaknesses to SEO Spyglass but having ahrefs api to me compensates with MUCH better backlink reporting and if you were paying $79 a month just to check backlinks at ahrefs you save a ton of cash over time. Also it could be a little slower than ahrefs but the thing almost never freezes up like spyglass does on some runs and since its a paid api access you need no captchas to get any links.

      Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think only SEO Spyglass tells you if a link is live or not. Majestic would just show you all the links you've ever had.

        Under the 'link type' column in majestic it indicates whether the link has been deleted.

    I meant hack in a good way, not bad way. I.e., have to delve deep into the functions to add an API. API's scare me. So I was wondering, if it was hard or easy

    What I'm wondering (based on it's description) if I can input a specific URL I am checking, and it checks the backlinks to that URL and backlinks to those backlinks.

    Backlink Monitor works with multiple backlink tiers!

    I use it to monitor top 10 competitors as well as my own backlink profile... Pulling data from Moz & Ahrefs gives a pretty indepth look at each competitors backlink profile. Although once the backlink analysis is complete I could never figure out how to get the number of root domains from the crawl results... If anyone knows how to get number of root domains inside of backlink monitor let me know.

    Right now After the link analysis is complete ...
    1. I copy the urls from the crawl results panel found in the backlinks tab
    2. I then paste those urls into scrapebox
    3. and then press the remove duplicate domains button in scrapebox to get the # of unique domains...

    There must be a more efficient way to do this all inside of inspyder backlink monitor... If anyone knows how feel free to share it because it's not revealed anywhere in the user guide.

      Backlink Miner does not really pull data from Ahrefs. It gives you a summary and a link to ahrefs but for some odd reason the developer instead of building in API access from ahrefs as it does with SEOmoz and Webmeup chose instead to have you load the ahrefs data from a file.

      Its not bad though especially for competitive research. I gave it a try a week ago and it has found a home in my checking arsenal. If not for seokicks it would suck though. Pretty much like SEO spyglass does because webmeup just has not been good enough to greatly improve their lousy backlink coverage. I only use Spygloass now when I am doing bulk checks and just want to see if there are backlinks on a number of domains. Nothing more - because I know that you cannot get a real picture of the backlinks a site has anymore just using spyglass

      The minute backlink monitor has a bulk checker I will probably mothball Spyglass. That said Backlink monitor needs to streamline their stuff too, Having to specify on each run you want ahrefs data is clumsy. Should be set once in options or settings and be done with it.

      Right now the only tool that is set once ahrefs api and forget is Backlink falcon - a dark horse in the race because its not pleasing to the eye and is clunky. Surprisingly though Backlink Falcon was the easiest for me to automate checking multiple backlinks from a txt file (using winautomation).

      Anyway, I don't kow if you are going to get the number of root domains from any program right now though.

      Surprisingly in these days of infrequent - and maybe its going away completely - Pr updates, the best analyzing software is Netpeak - Pagerank, Moz ad majestic data on the links you feed into it (but no feature to pull backlinks in without loading manually) and its free.

    Another vote for Backlink Monitor 4 eventhough this is a thread about Backlink Miner.

    + BLM4 can help you check your link hierarchy / tiered linking.

    + the ease of data crunching with BLM4 is easy as hell

    + you can easily send your unindexed links to Indexing services straight from BLM4 (yes, BLM4 can check whether your links are indexed or not)
