Think again Google knows more about you than your mother
Now put the privacy stuff to one side and apply this to your online ventures. If you run site A that links to site B, Google will know. That's fine if they are related (in terms of content) to each other, but a link for just the sake of a link isn't going to help you much, in fact it might work against you.
This is important if you're trying to get backlinks through Google groups or any other service owned by Google.
