SEO New Domain Question.

Hi everyone,

Lets say we have a established blog, similar to redmondpie,9to5mac.

If we bought a new domain, then moved everything and redirected everything to a brand new domain and continued new post on the new domain.

My question is would the new domain gain all the rankings, authority, and seo benefits of the old blog?

Would there be any disadvantages or ranking drops? Or would everything move over okay? Is there any who has experience in moving large scale authority websites to a new domain and can explain what they encountered in terms of SEO? Where you rankings the same just on the new domain or ranking drops?

    I don't think it would gain the rankings right away if not at all. I may be wrong. I think there would be ranking drops but temporary.

    i read some wso they tell he gain good backlinks from buying old domain that have a lot backlinks and have good PR, this old domain related to new domain niches.. Then he create simple post with backlink to new domain, the new domain will get good rank.. And the other said he create redirect from old domain with a lot backlinks to new domain and get good ranking.. I never test it, so it's not my own experience

    I believe there is a way to do this from Webmaster Tools. You can actually let Google know that you are moving your site to a new domain and it won't affect your rankings as much. I'm not sure if I would want to try that though especially with a site that is doing really well.

      Definitely check out the Webmaster Tools. I think you will drop traffic a little bit, but you might be able to cushion the blow by making sure all your regular traffic is aware of the change in domain.
      For example, a newsletter/email to followers.

    As you are getting new domain it wont be possible to rank higher directly, it would take some time. Regardign traffic you can send emails to the users or keep redirect page on old domain and send the users newsletters too.

    As far as SEO goes, IMO you would be better off leaving the old site intact & using that old site as a backlink source for the new blog. I have a few sites in the same niche & that's the way I boost my new sites, instant same niche traffic, instant SEO.

    I think it may take time for your new domain to rank on Google, especially if you move everything in that domain. To make sure of it, just use the Google Webmaster tools. I already did this once in my new domain, as I transferred all of the files from my old to the new one.

    In the fleeting, it will likely influence rankings as you make the relocation from the old to new domain. And it may also happen that changing your domain name will in fact affect your SEO.
    That is your pursuit referral activity, regardless incidentally while the web crawlers get the redirects dealt with and forever assuming that you are not able to redirect old Urls. Possibly, in the event if you continue your work at the site and give quality contents you might as well recoup any lost traffic movement in a sensible time.
